Abstract:
A mutual authentication method in a Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) is provided. The mutual authentication method may receive authentication-related information about authentication between an authentication unit and a security module (SM) from a Trusted Authority (TA), generate an authentication session key using the authentication-related information, transmit the authentication session key by the authentication unit to the SM through a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), and control a Conditional Access System (CAS) software to be downloaded to the SM from the authentication unit, when the authentication is completed by the authentication session key.
Abstract:

A method of operating a headend system for a downloadable conditional access service, the method including: receiving, by an Authentication Proxy (AP) server, basic authentication information from a Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) host, the basic authentication information being required to authenticate the DCAS host; transmitting, by the AP server, the basic authentication information to an external trusted authority device which authenticates the DCAS host; generating, by the AP server, a session key for encrypting/decrypting a secure micro client using a session key sharing factor; obtaining, by the AP server, download-related information of the secure micro client from a DCAS Provisioning Server (DPS); and commanding, by the AP server, an Integrated Personalization System (IPS) server to download the secure micro client to the DCAS host based on the download-related information, the secure micro client being encrypted by the session key.
Abstract:
A security control method in a cable network dynamic multicast session, and more particularly, a method of controlling forward secrecy and backward secrecy in a Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) 3.0 network dynamic multicast session is provided. A security control method in a cable network dynamic multicast session, includes: maintaining a multicast group that is allocated with a first Downstream Service Identifier (DSID) and a first Security Association Identifier (SAID) and that is joined by a first cable modem and a second cable modem; receiving a LeaveMulticastSession message from the second cable modem; exchanging, corresponding to the LeaveMulticastSession message, a Dynamic Bonding Change (DBC) message for changing a multicast parameter with the second cable modem; and updating a first Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) corresponding to the first DSID with a second TEK.
Abstract:
A method of effectively setting and changing a Receive Channel Set (RCS) of a cable modem (CM) is provided. The method includes: receiving, by a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), a Receive Channel Profile (RCP) with respect to a downstream physical layer of a CM; composing, by the CMTS, a plurality of channel configuration information required for setting the RCS of the CM with reference to the RCP; encoding, by the CMTS, the plurality of channel configuration information, and transmitting the encoded plurality of channel configuration information to the CM; transmitting, by the CM, an RCP with respect to a downstream physical layer to a CMTS; receiving, by the CM, a plurality of channel configuration information being composed with reference to the RCP and being required for setting the RCS; and setting, by the CM, the RCS using the plurality of channel configuration information.
Abstract:
A decision feedback equalizing apparatus selectively using a feedback filter and a method thereof are provided. The apparatus includes: an equalizing unit including a feed forward filter (FFF) for correcting a distorted transmission channel by receiving a match-filtered signal and a feedback filter (FBF) for reducing inter symbol interference ISI of the corrected transmission channel for driving only the FFF in a blind mode and driving the FFF and the FBF in a decision directed mode; a diverge/converge determining unit for determining whether the decision feedback equalizing apparatus is diverged or converged using a unit square error obtained through a least unit square algorithm; and a filter controlling unit for controlling the equalizing unit in a blind mode if the decision feedback equalizing apparatus is determined as divergence, and for controlling the equalizing unit in a decision directed mode if the decision feedback equalizing apparatus is determined as convergence.
Abstract:
A timing lock detection apparatus and method for digital broadcasting receiver are provided. The apparatus includes: a discrete value generator for cyclically selecting a discrete signal value from a continuous timing error signal; a differential calculator for obtaining a difference between the currently selected timing error signal value and a previously selected timing error signal that is a timing jitter signal; a sign variation detector for detecting variation in a sign of the timing jitter signal; a lock control signal generator for discriminating a period based on the detected sign changing time, and controlling a lock step of the loop filter according to a convergence mode of the timing jitter signal at each period; and a lock detection signal generator for generating a lock signal or an unlock signal according to whether the timing jitter signal reaches a steady state and using the current lock step signal.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for providing a service based on a subscriber level. The method includes the steps of: a) initializing a Data Back-off Start (DBS) value and a Data Back-off End (DBE) value; b) acquiring subscriber information from an external management system; c) acquiring service flow identifier (SFID) and service identifier (SID) information from an object model for quality of service (QoS) based on information on Service Class Name (SCN) of the subscriber acquired in the step b); d) creating manufacturing automation protocol (MAP) according to a priority by grasping the SID information based on the service level and controlling the DBS value and the DBE value of a cable modem (CM); and e) transmitting the created MAP to the cable modem.
Abstract:
