Provided is a method for securing cable modem (CM) following a Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) against physical security attacks. The method includes the steps of: a) classifying information to be stored in the DOCSIS CM based on a requirement degree of confidentiality and anti-alteration; b) storing the information in a non-volatile memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is absolute confidential information, but processing a mechanism for deleting the information stored in the non-volatile memory in case that attacks by a hacker is sensed; c) storing the information in the non-volatile memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is middle-level security information; and d) storing the information in a write-once (WO) memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is absolute anti-alteration information.

The data server includes: a contents registering unit for registering a content of data broadcasting service in a file system; a storage for managing and storing signaling information of the registered content; and a data processing unit for defining an application message for the content supporting an interactive service, identifying the kind of the content by receiving the message inputted through a return channel, updating the content by analyzing the inputted message based on structural information of the message to perform interactive data broadcasting service in real-time.

Provided is a method for processing updated data of an application in a headend or a subscriber's terminal of a digital data broadcasting system. The method of the present research forms updated object modules and non-updated object modules among the objects of the application data, transmits them to a subscriber's terminal, abstracts the updated objects in the subscriber's terminal among the objects transmitted from the headend, and outputs them onto a screen, when the objects of the application data are updated in the headend. The updated data processing method includes the steps of: a) confirming that the application data are updated upon an application content update request of a subscriber terminal or application file update of a contents provider; b) generating signaling information of the updated application data and transmitting the signaling information; c) separating updated objects from non-updated objects among objects constituting the application, and updating a file system structure and contents of the application; and d) forming modules including the updated objects and modules including the non-updated objects, updating version information of the modules including the updated objects.

Provided are a multiplexing and demultiplexing apparatus and method for delivering an MPEG-2 TS packet error signal through a CableCARD interface. In the multiplexing apparatus, a TS packet reception unit receives TS packets, and a pre-header generation unit generates pre-headers corresponding to the received TS packets. A pre-header insertion unit inserts the pre-headers in front of the received TS packets to generate cable MPEG packets (CMPs), and an output FIFO unit stores the CMPs. A FIFO control unit transfers the CMPs without collision with CMPS of different channels, and an output signal generation unit generates output signals from the CMPs of the different channels.
