Abstract:
A bicycle support comprises a socket to be secured to the horizontal rear fork members of a bicycle frame, a support arm having one end pivotally connected to said socket for tilting movement of the arm from a position of rest into operating position and held in one or the other of said positions by a tilting spring acting eccentrically on the arm with respect to its pivoting axis to urge the arm against an abutment on the socket, a spring counterbearing being associated with said pivotally connected end of the arm. The spring counterbearing is formed by an arched surface, for example by the surface of a ball lodged in a trough formed on the pivotally connected end of the support arm, or by a concave arched surface of the trough itself.
Abstract:
A method of treating the surfaces of workpieces by means of a mass of smooth-surface or abrasive particles which impinge upon the workpiece surface, comprising the steps of placing the particles into a state of free fall, and in the presence of a friction-reducing medium causing the particles to impact upon the surface of the workpiece. The apparatus used in the performance of the inventive method comprises means for elevating the particles to a path of free fall for such particles, means for supporting and rotating the workpieces at the region of free fall of the particles, and means for introducing a friction-reducing medium for contact with the workpieces and particles.
Abstract:
A furnace for melting or heating metals comprising a furnace compartment enclosed by a refractory lining and a crucible for the melt arranged in the furnace compartment. Contacts are provided at the lower region of the furnace compartment, these contacts being arranged in the current circuit of a monitoring device and such contacts are electrically connected with one another by metal which may possibly flow out of the crucible into the furnace compartment. A baffle or guide plate, preferably a sheet-metal deflector or guide, engages beneath the contacts and extends at least over the region of the furnace compartment spanned by the crucible. The baffle plate is exposed to the thermal radiation emanating from heating elements.
