    摘要: A fetal heart rate monitoring system includes an ultrasonic transducer for transmitting a signal to a patient and for receiving a reflected heart beat monitoring signal. A monitoring system coupled to the ultrasonic transducer processes the heart beat monitoring signal and produces heart beat information representative of the monitored heart rate. A mechanical or electronic steering system coupled to the ultrasonic transducer controls the location of the signal transmitted to the patent and/or the location of the received heart beat monitoring signal. A control system coupled to the monitor and steering system controls the steering system as a function of the heart beat monitoring signal to optimize the quality of the heart beat information in the received heart beat monitoring signals.

    摘要: A pump for oscillating a fluid into and out from a body area. The pump forms a fluid chamber for holding the fluid, and comprises a piston for forcing fluid outward from the fluid chamber and into the body, and for drawing fluid inward from the body and into the fluid chamber. A motor is connected to the piston, and a control circuit is connected to the motor to control movement of the piston. The control circuit has a first state actuating the motor to force the fluid into the body, and a second state actuating the motor to draw the fluid from the body, and the control circuit may be adjusted to vary the rates at which fluid is forced into and drawn from the body.

    摘要: A dual electrospray ionization source for use in connection with a mass spectrometer having an inlet port. The source includes a polymer nozzle holder having a drive axis and a pair of continuously spraying nozzles mounted to the nozzle holder at spaced-apart positions. An adjustment mechanism allows positional adjustment of one nozzle with respect to the other nozzle on the nozzle holder. A programmable motor is connected to the nozzle holder at the drive axis. The motor rotationally and reciprocally drives the nozzle holder to sequentially position each of the nozzles in alignment with an inlet port of mass spectrometer.

    摘要: A method for dissolving a solidified mass in vivo, and apparatus for oscillating a fluid into and out from a body area. The method comprises introducing a dissolving agent into a body area, and oscillating an agitating fluid into and out from that body area to stir the dissolving agent therein. Body fluids withdrawn from the body area with the agitating fluid are separated therefrom, and the separated agitating fluid is reintroduced into the body area to further stir the dissolving agent. The apparatus comprises a pump to force fluid into and to draw the fluid from a body area, a trap for collecting body fluids aspirated from the body area, and fluid lines to connect the pump to the trap and the trap to the body area.
