摘要: A process for producing a substrate having a functionalised surface, which process comprises contacting the substrate with a carbene precursor, which carbene precursor is a compound of formula (III) or (IV) whose substituent groups are defined herein: (b) generating a carbene reactive intermediate from the carbene precursor so that it reacts with the substrate to functionalise the surface, thereby yielding an activated substrate; and (c) further functionalising the activated substrate obtained in (b). In (c), the activated substrate may be further functionalised by treating the activated substrate with a diazonium salt for the introduction of colour and/or another desired activity, and/or by treatment with hydrogen peroxide to produce a biocidal substrate. The invention further relates to carbene precursor compounds for use in the surface functionalisation process, and to processes for preparing certain precursor compounds.

摘要: An apparatus for washing a split animal carcass includes upper and lower pairs of upwardly inclined brushes, leading and trailing vertical brushes, and upper and lower pairs of downwardly inclined brushes. The upwardly inclined brushes are transversely spaced apart from one another to accommodate an animal carcass between them, as are the downwardly inclined brushes. First and second fluid headers are positioned in parallel relation to each inclined brush and three fluid headers are associated with the vertical brushes. The first inclined fluid headers have nozzles aimed at the carcass and the second inclined fluid headers have nozzles aimed at the brushes. Two of the vertical brush fluid headers are aimed at the vertical brushes and the third fluid header is aimed at the carcass.

摘要: Client Discovery is a program that utilizes the existing remote boot capability of a network and adds a program to automate the discovery of a computer's class and the creation of an instance for that specific computer. When a client machine is connected to the network and turned on for the first time, the server will find its request for an operating system, identify that the machine does not have an instance and will send an CD boot block to the client computer. The CD boot block will obtain information about the client computer by automatically scanning everything that the program is able to scan. The client information gathering program may also prompt the user with questions and include those responses in the client information. The CD boot block will then send the information gathered to a log file in the server. One or more keys from the client information are compared to one or more keys in the template table. When a match is made, the server program executes a command to link the client machine's MAC address to the template creating an instance for the client computer and to save the instance in the server memory. The client machine will then reboot. When it restarts it will now be automatically identified by its instance and the appropriate operating system sent to it.

摘要: A picture light comprising a fitting (12,13) for mounting the light on a wall or picture. An arm (9) pivotally attached by pivot (10) at one end to the fitting (11) and at its other end by pivot (8) to hood or shade (1) in which at least one bulb (30) is housed. Adjustable light directing means are mounted in the hood (1) in the form of a pair of spaced vertical plates (40,44) movable axially of the hood (1) on rotation of knobs (5,6) and a pair of horizontal plates (50,50A) mounted on the vertical plates 40,44. Movement of the plates 40,44 axially along the hood (1) adjusts the depth of the pool of light (76) falling on the picture (75) whereas pivoting the horizontal plates (50,50A) adjusts the width of the pool of light (76).
