Abstract:
An eye surgery method includes incising a cornea of an eye using a blade portion of a surgical cannulated blade instrument to create an opening in the cornea, injecting injectable into an anterior chamber of the eye through the opening by a lumen of the surgical cannulated blade, and stabilizing the eye by engaging an increasing diameter portion of the surgical cannulated blade with the opening.
Abstract:
A surgical cannulated blade instrument includes a blade portion having a pointed end, a top surface, and a bottom surface opposite the top surface, an increasing diameter portion having a diameter which increases in a direction away from the pointed end, and a cannula portion having a lumen opening at a location between the pointed end and the increasing diameter portion.
Abstract:
A process for treating exhaust gas from a compression ignition engine wherein substantially all fuel for combustion is injected into a combustion chamber prior to the start of combustion comprises contacting the exhaust gas with a catalyst comprising a supported palladium (Pd) catalyst.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for load balancing a plurality of entities, such as firewalls, in a network environment are disclosed. In particular, the load balancing of firewalls on a bidirectional traffic path is performed using a single device that controls both incoming and outgoing traffic through the firewalls. The single device may include virtual routers for controlling the bidirectional traffic through the firewalls. A first virtual router may control incoming traffic to the firewalls and the other virtual router may control outgoing traffic to the firewalls. The virtual routers are logical partitions of the device layered on the physical resources of the device. The virtual routers share all or portions of the physical resources of the single device.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented automated building design and modeling and construction project cost estimating and scheduling system (“DMES system”) is described. The DMES system provides a central source for all of the design and construction information for a construction project in a coordinated two-dimensional and three-dimensional spatial database that is freely accessible by all of the members of an interdisciplinary construction project team as a means to produce automatically coordinated design development and construction document information. The DMES system acquires and stores all of the appropriate design, engineering, and construction expertise and information available for any building type for use in automatically assembling and coordinating the design, cost-estimating, and scheduling for a construction project. In one embodiment, the DMES system consists of a plurality of objects, comprising elements and massing elements arranged in an assembly hierarchy. Each of the objects includes programming code that defines an interface and discrete internal functions that define its behavior. When instantiated in the database, the objects automatically create further instances of other objects in the hierarchy, which in turn do the same, thus assembling a complete building model automatically from the initial manually-placed instance. The building model enables automatic generation of drawings and cost and scheduling information. By running automatic iterations of the building model, multiple designs may be evaluated to determine the optimum design.
Abstract:
A process is provided for the remediation of bottom ash from domestic waste incinerators which comprises hot mixing from 10 to 50% by weight of said bottom ash with from 4 to 6% by weight of bitumen having a penetration of from 50 to 200 pen, from 25 to 55% by weight of crushed rock having a particle size greater than 2 mm, from 10 to 35% by weight of crushed rock fines having a particle size of less than 2 mm and from 0 to 3% by weight of a filler to give a hot mix asphalt product which is environmentally stable and which has load bearing properties at least as good as conventional hot mix asphalts.
Abstract:
An electrical distribution center assembly and a method of constructing the same which eliminates the need to flip an electrical distribution center over in order to couple a wire harness connector to the electrical distribution center. The electrical distribution center assembly includes an electrical distribution center, a wire harness connector, and a connector retainer carried by a vehicle for temporarily holding the wire harness connector in position while the wire harness connector is coupled to the electrical distribution center.

Abstract:
A mostly cotton yarn terry cloth product is provided with borders having high content polyester yarns. The polyester borders are more rugged, and thus aid in preventing fraying and failure along the edges. In addition, reinforcing ribs, also formed from yarns have a high polyester content, may be provided that extend from a border on one side of the terry cloth product to a border on the other side. This feature anchors the borders in place, limiting failure at the juncture of the border and the adjacent cotton.
Abstract:
A rejuvenating agent suitable for the rejuvenation of asphalt is disclosed, wherein said rejuvenating agent comprises one or more plant derived oils. The rejuvenating agent can also be used to alter the properties of a virgin (unaged) asphalt mix as well as for the rejuvenation of an aged asphalt.
