Abstract: The application provides articles, systems, and methods for adsorbing and desorbing nitrogen oxides (NOx) at desired temperatures. The catalytic article comprises a NOx adsorber composition comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) component disposed on or impregnated in a support material, and a substrate, wherein the catalytic article further comprises a magnetic material capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. The catalytic article further comprises a conductor associated therewith for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, wherein the conductor is positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the magnetic material. This field can inductively heat the magnetic material to heat the NOx adsorber composition to desorb the NOx from the NOx adsorber composition.

Abstract: A four-way conversion catalyst for the treatment of an exhaust gas stream of a gasoline engine, the catalyst comprising a porous wall flow filter substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end, a substrate axial length extending between the inlet end and the outlet end, and a plurality of passages defined by porous internal walls of the porous wall flow filter substrate, wherein the plurality of passages comprise inlet passages having an open inlet end and a closed outlet end, and outlet passages having a closed inlet end and an open outlet end; wherein in the pores of the porous internal walls and on the surface of the porous internal walls, which surface defines the interface between the porous internal walls and the passages, the catalyst comprises a three-way conversion catalytic coating comprising an oxygen storage compound and a platinum group metal supported on a refractory metal oxide; wherein in the pores of the porous internal walls, the three-way conversion catalytic coating is present as in-wall-coating and on the surface of the porous internal walls, the three-way conversion catalytic coating is present as on-wall-coating; wherein in addition to said three-way conversion catalytic coating, the catalyst comprises no further coating in the pores of the porous internal walls and no further coating on the surface of the porous internal walls.

Abstract: The present invention provides a catalyst composition comprising at least one platinum group metal; and at least one complex metal oxide wherein the at least one platinum group metal is supported on the at least complex metal oxide, wherein the complex metal oxide comprises ceria (calculated as CeO2) in an amount of about 50 to about 99 wt. %, based on the total weight of the complex metal oxide; and zirconia (calculated as ZrO2) in an amount of about 1.0 to about 50 wt. %, based on the total weight the complex metal oxide. The present invention also provides a catalytic article made from said catalyst composition, its preparation and use for the treatment of the exhaust gases.

Abstract: The invention provides a catalyst composition, including a mixture of catalytically active particles and a magnetic material, such as superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. The catalytically active particles will typically include a base metal, platinum group metal, oxide of base metal or platinum group metal, or combination thereof, and will be adapted for use in various catalytic systems, such as diesel oxidation catalysts, catalyzed soot filters, lean NOx traps, selective catalytic reduction catalysts, ammonia oxidation catalysts, or three-way catalysts. The invention also includes a system and method for heating a catalyst material, which includes a catalyst article that includes the catalyst composition and a conductor for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, the conductor positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the magnetic material.

The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas from compressed natural gas (CNG) engine comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region beginning at the inlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the first catalytic region comprises a first platinum component; a second catalytic region beginning at the outlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the second catalytic region comprises a second palladium component; and a third catalytic region, wherein the third catalytic region comprises a third rhodium component.
