摘要: In one general embodiment, a recording system controller includes a controller controlling a timing of flux switching of adjacent pairs of writers such that the writers in a given pair do not switch substantially concurrently, and reducing a current of one of the writers in the pair while the adjacent writer is writing a transition. In another general embodiment, a recording system controller includes a controller controlling a timing of pulse writing of adjacent pairs of writers such that the writers in a given pair do not pulse substantially concurrently. In yet another general embodiment, a method includes controlling a timing of pulse writing or flux switching of adjacent pairs of writers such that the writers in a given pair do not pulse or switch substantially concurrently.

摘要: An electronic card and a method for processing data stored in the electronic card. The electronic card includes a memory containing data to be read by a card reader. The electronic card may include a programmable field source containing wire structures geometrically configured and energized in a manner that drives an electric current through only two wire structures at a time for generating a time varying magnetic field that induces a readback signal in the card reader as the electronic card is being swiped through the card reader. An electrical current in at least one wire in the electronic card generates a time varying magnetic field and may include a finite time derivative of electrical current whose magnitude does not exceed a specified maximum time derivative of electrical current corresponding to a peak voltage threshold (Vth) and an overshoot ratio (f) of the card reader.

摘要: A method and apparatus for writing magnetization states in magnetic islands of a multi-level patterned magnetic recording medium with more than two recording levels and a method and apparatus for reading readback waveforms representing written magnetization states of the magnetic islands in the multi-level patterned magnetic recording medium. Writing each magnetization state includes selecting the magnetization state, determining a write current sufficient to write the magnetization state, and applying the write current to a magnetic write head to write the magnetization state, including simultaneously writing associated magnetic states in each magnetic island of at least one pair of magnetic islands. Reading the readback waveform representing a written magnetization state is implemented through use of a magnetic read head and includes: identifying the written magnetization state by decoding the readback waveform; and displaying and/or recording the written magnetization state.

摘要: A method and apparatus for writing magnetization states in magnetic layers of a multi-layer continuous magnetic recording medium with more than two recording levels and a method and apparatus for reading readback pulse shapes representing a magnetization state transition between such written magnetization states. Writing each magnetization state includes selecting the magnetization state, determining a write current sufficient to write the magnetization state, and applying the write current to a magnetic write head to write the magnetization state, including simultaneously writing associated magnetic states in each magnetic layer of at least one pair of magnetic layers. A readback pulse shape representing a written magnetization state transition is read. The written magnetization state transition is uniquely identified from the readback pulse shape of the transition or from both the readback pulse shape of the transition and the readback pulse shape of one or more contiguous magnetization state transitions.
