摘要: Systems and methods for non-thermal ablation of tissue are provided. A non-implantable minimally invasive system for treatment of tissue in a body via direct current ablation is provided including a catheter, a plurality of electrodes for deployment through the catheter, a power source for applying power to the electrodes, and a fixation element for maintaining the catheter in a treatment position during treatment of the tissue. A minimally invasive method for treating tissue in a body via direct current ablation is provided including inserting a catheter into the body such that a portion of the catheter remains outside of the body, deploying a fixation element to fix the catheter in a treatment position, deploying a plurality of electrodes through the catheter, applying power to the plurality of electrodes, using the electrodes to apply a current to the tissue, and removing the catheter from the body.

摘要: Treatments for prostatic disease use a urethral catheter with ports positioned outside a patient. The catheter's lumen has a cross-sectional shape and an electrode assembly with a shaft having a corresponding cross-sectional shape that interlocks with the shape of the lumen. The shaft includes a plurality of shaft channels, an extendable electrode in each channel, and a collar with a protruding flange that interfaces with a port when the electrode assembly is within the lumen. An electrode actuator controls actuation of the electrodes. The collar and actuator are interfaced via a keyed structure. A plurality of ports in the assembly interface with the lumen and project the electrodes outward through the catheter and into the prostate when actuated. The electrodes are extended in a predefined rotational orientation relative to the keyed structure. A power source is coupled to the electrodes and delivers direct current to the prostate.

摘要: A protection circuit for a direct-current (DC) ablation prostate therapy system. The protection circuit is selectively coupled to a power source that provides DC constant current to a plurality of electrodes in a catheter configured to deliver DC ablation therapy to prostrate tissue. The protection circuit is controlled by a controller and a switching circuit to buffer energy from the power source in response to a monitoring circuit that monitors at least one parameter of the DC ablation therapy, such as voltage or impedance. The controller is configured to selectively activate the switching circuit based on the monitoring circuit detecting an undesirable increase in the energy delivered for the DC ablation therapy.
