Abstract:
Following the generation of a pattern in a photoresist layer on a non-metallic wafer and development and rinsing thereof, the wafer is slightly etched and immediately metallized. The developed photoresist portions are softened in a stripper solved in methanol, and the unwanted metallization portions are lifted by boiling the wafer in an acetone-lubricant bath. The same liquid is used for a mild scrubbing followed by spraying the wafer in pure acetone.
Abstract:
An analog-to-digital conversion apparatus wherein, in one embodiment, an input analog current is applied to an input of an integrating circuit, while a switching circuit allows a precision reference current to be summed with the input analog current at the input of the integrating circuit during a first mode of operation of the switching circuit and prevents the precision reference current from being applied to the input of the integrating circuit during a second mode of operation of the switching circuit. The integrating circuit generates a first signal proportional to the integral of the sum of any currents applied to its input. In response to the first signal and to clock pulses, generator means develops an incremental pulse width modulated signal to precisely control the first and second modes of operation of the switching circuit. The incremental pulse width modulated signal and clock pulses are then utilized by an output circuit to generate a digital representaion of the amplitude of the input analog current.
Abstract:
A simplified positioning device for effecting and retaining precision alignment of various devices, for example, lenses, focus coils, deflection yokes or the like utilized in high resolution electro-optical type assemblies such as CRT''s, TV camera tubes and electron beam assemblies, or optical components or similar components or devices.
Abstract:
A fast start-up compact high-pressure high-temperature steam generator is comprised of a multiplicity of individual fire tube boiler combustion devices housed in an enclosure. Each boiler assembly is supported by tube sheets and consists primarily of concentric inner and outer tubes. The inner tubes serve as a combustion chamber wherein a near stoichiometric mixture of fuel and oxidizer are burned. An annular chamber is formed between the inner and outer tubes and serves as a vehicle for water that is directed helically therethrough. Heat transfer through the walls of the inner tube convert said water from a liquid to a superheated steam for use with conventional steam turbine power plants or the like.

Abstract:
Monocrystalline films or layers of hexagonal mercury sulfide or cinnabar are epitaxially grown on monocrystalline optical or semiconductive substrates using liquid phase epitaxy. The films are grown by forming a charge consisting of HgS, Na2S, and S; heating the charge to above the 344*C transition temperature of HgS to form a homogeneous melt consisting of HgS solute in Na2S4 solvent; lowering the temperature of the melt to saturate the solvent with HgS; inserting a monocrystalline substrate seed crystal into the melt; and, slowly cooling the melt to supersaturate the melt with respect to HgS, then precipitate HgS out of solution and form a monocrystalline layer of cinnabar on the substrate seed crystal.

Abstract:
An electromechanical system including an electrical driving means and an electromechanical device incorporating a hysteretic electromagnet. An improved device driving means comprises means for generating a time varying voltage which at substantially regular time intervals is capable of furnishing sufficient current to initially activate the device. Between occurrences of device-activating current capacity, the time varying voltage is capable of furnishing less current yet enough to maintain the active state after initial activation.
