Abstract: A pet door is described herein comprising a motor for locking and unlocking a pet flap of a pet door, wherein the pet flap is rotatably attached to an upper portion of the pet door. The pet door includes a first motion detector for monitoring movement in a first detection region and a second motion detector for monitoring movement in a second detection region, wherein the pet flap of the pet door occupies a plane separating the first detection region from the second detection region when the pet flap is in a locked position. One or more applications running on at least one processor of the pet door are configured to receive a first motion signal from the first motion detector indicating movement of a pet in the first detection region, the receiving the first motion signal including activating an access sequence controlling ingress or egress of a pet.

Abstract: A method is described that comprises receiving a filtered signal corresponding to an acoustic event, applying one or more tests to the filtered signal in a sequence, wherein each test of the one or more tests assesses the filtered signal for the presence of one or more characteristics, the determining the presence of the one or more characteristics comprising a failure to identify the acoustic event as a first event, terminating the applying the one or more tests when a test determines the presence of the one or more characteristics, and identifying the acoustic event as the first event upon an occurrence of completing all tests of the one or more tests, the completing all tests including each test in the sequence determining the absence of the one or more characteristics.

Abstract: A collar unit device is described comprising a receiving cavity for receiving a metal electrode probe, wherein at least one elastomeric ring encircles the metal electrode probe, wherein the at least one elastomeric ring mechanically isolates the metal electrode probe from the receiving cavity. The device includes a piezoelectric element. The device includes a retainer component for maintaining the piezoelectric element in a secured position, wherein the secured position comprises the piezoelectric element maintaining contact with the metal electrode probe. The device includes the metal electrode probe for detecting vibrations of one or more acoustic events and transferring the vibrations to the piezoelectric element through the contact, the piezoelectric element for receiving the vibrations of one or more acoustic events, the receiving the vibrations including generating an electrical signal proportional to the frequency and magnitude of the vibrations, and at least one processor for receiving and processing the electrical signal.

Abstract: An apparatus is described that comprises a microphone array and a plurality of transducers. The microphone array and the plurality of transducers are communicatively coupled with at least one processor. The apparatus includes the microphone array for receiving at least one signal. Each transducer of the plurality of transducers is configured to deliver a correction signal along a transducer beam spread axis, wherein the plurality of transducers is positioned on the apparatus for providing a combined transducer beam spread coverage in the horizontal plane. One or more applications running on the at least one processor use information of the at least one signal to detect a sound event. The detecting the sound event includes selecting transducers from the plurality of transducers and instructing the selected transducers to deliver a correction signal.

Abstract: An animal behavior modification device is provided. The device includes a sound, vibration or motion sensor that is configured to generate electrical signals in response to an occurrence. The device may include a filter, which is tuned to recognize a dog barking event, and generate an electrical signal in response to recognizing an input signal indicative of a dog's bark. The device further includes a canister that holds a deterrent fluid under pressure. The device additionally comprises a motor module configured to rotate a shaft in response to the electrical signal from the filter. The canister has a spray nozzle for releasing fluid that affects the dog's senses. In response to rotating the shaft, the spray nozzle is depressed. A method of modifying the behavior of an animal using the device is also provided herein.

Abstract: The invention presents a harness assembly for lifting and supporting an animal in mobility. The assembly comprises a front and rear harness sections releasably attached by a lifting leash. Both the front and rear harness sections can be used independently. Both the front and rear harness sections are comprised of upper and lower sections releasably attached to one another. The rear harness section lifts the animal from both the hips and waist resulting in less stress than other devices.

Abstract: A pet door is provided herein. The pet door includes a pivotal flap and a frame that defines a through-way. A rotatable knob is mounted to the frame and has a handle portion and a stop wall. The handle portion and stop wall include various profiles and configurations that work in concert to control the flap's direction of pivotal movement. In a first configuration, the flap may swing outwardly or inwardly. A second configuration prevents the flap from swinging inwardly. A third configuration prevents the flap from swinging outwardly. A fourth configuration places the flap is in a locked position to prevent swinging in either direction. The electronic door also includes an electronic latch mechanism which selectively latches and unlatches the flap. The latch mechanism unlatches the flap in response to a wireless signal from an electronic transmitter that may be affixed to a pet.
