    摘要: A liquid toner for developing electrostatic latent images, at speeds in excess of 100 ft./min., by electrophoretic movement of pre-charged particles of a thermoplastic polymer in a nonpolar carrier liquid, which reduces drag is disclosed wherein the particles are present in about 10% by weight of the weight of the carrier liquid, and no more than 10% by volume of such toner particles having a size less than 1.0 micron as measured by an Horiba Capa-700. The nonpolar liquid has, typically, a volume resistivity in excess of 10.sup.9 ohm centimeters, a dielectric constant no greater than 3.5, and a vapor pressure of less than 10 millimeters of Mercury at 25 degrees C. The toner composition also includes a quantity of charge director for imparting an electrostatic charge of predetermined polarity to said particles. The toner particles may have a plurality of fibers integrally extending therefrom. Also disclosed is a method of electrostatic printing, at speeds of at least 100 feet-minute, using such liquid developers.

    摘要: A method for the preparation of conductive graphite particles useful as an electrically anisotropic support layer for an electroconductive transfer film comprising initially grinding a slurry of graphite particles in the presence of water or a solvent having freezing and vapor pressure properties similar to water, for a period of time sufficient to substantially completely disperse the graphite particles in the water or solvent. A binding or film forming polymer is then added to the graphite slurry, said polymer being soluble in the water or solvent. The resulting slurry is then subjected to a freeze drying step so that the water or solvent present is caused to sublime resulting in the formation of polymeric coated graphite particles of at least 0.2 microns in diameter. These particles can be incorporated into the support layer of a electroconductive transfer film.

    摘要: An improved multilayer electrosensitive recording medium is disclosed comprising a low density polyethylene in one or more of the layers. By using low density polyethylene as a binder in one or more of the layers of an electrosensitive recording medium, the problem of burn-off odor is reduced or eliminated. Pigments such as carbon black and modifiers such as surfactants may also be added to the particular layer.Particular embodiments are disclosed in which the polyethylene layer or layers are formed by the application of a dispersion of low density polyethylene. The dispersion mixture also includes modifying agents and pigments. After coating the dispersion the solvent is evaporated off and the coating is warmed so that any remaining solvent may be evaporated and the coating particles may form a layer.

The imaging mono-layer is subjected to an electric field, exposed to a pattern of sensitizing electromagnetic radiation, separation of the photosensitized particles from the unsensitized particles, and color-amplification of the desired image by imbibing the colorant dye into a suitable substrate.
