    摘要: A feedback controlled drug delivery system includes the automated sampling and analysis of a patient sample and dosing the patient based on the analysis. Automated sampling may be performed by direct analysis of the patient sample, such as for the measurement of a blood sample coagulation state or a glucose level. The drug delivery system includes a sample set that has a bidirectional patient tube that allows for delivery of the patient sample to an analyzer, and at another time, the infusion of a therapeutic drug. A controller receives a measurement from the analyzer, and based on that measurement, adjusts the delivery of the therapeutic fluid. The sample set has a quick--clear Leur fitting that allows for more effectively clearing a first fluid from a Leur fitting when starting a second fluid. The system also has a reagent cassette holder that protects, using a foam gasket, a reagent on a sample slide. Further, the system provides an interlock apparatus that assures a sample tube is occluded by either or both a slide clamp and by a platen arm compressing the sample tube to a peristaltic pump.

    摘要: An apparatus for determining whether an IV infusion set has infiltrated the tissue of a patient includes a pump for pumping fluid through the IV set into the patient and a pressure transducer operably engaged with the IV set between the pump and patient. The pressure transducer is electrically connected to a microprocessor, and the microprocessor is electrically connected to the motor of the pump to control the pump to alternately withdraw from and infuse into the patient a predetermined volume of fluid.This predetermined volume of fluid is withdrawn from the patient by the pump at a preselected withdrawal pressure, while the pump infuses the predetermined volume of fluid into the patient at a preselected infusion pressure. The microprocessor measures both the time period for infusing the predetermined volume of fluid and the time period for withdrawing the predetermined volume of fluid. Based upon these time periods, the microprocessor evaluates whether the IV set has infiltrated the patient's tissue.

    摘要: A method of sensing fluid pressure in which a deformable tube provides an accessible and substantially flat section. Deflection of the flat section reflects line pressure. In one embodiment, a fluid pressure sensing apparatus comprises a deformable tube for carrying fluid and at least one constraint member comprising an inner surface and a pressure sensing opening. The inner surface comprises a substantially flat portion and a constraint portion. The tube is positioned against the inner surface and constrained by the constraint portion such that a portion of the tube is deformed against the substantially flat portion of the inner surface. This produces a substantially flat section of the tube adjacent to, and accessible through, the pressure sensing opening. Similarly, a method of manufacturing a fluid pressure sensing apparatus comprises the steps of: providing a deformable tube, and constraining the tube to provide an accessible and substantially flat section of the tube. The method and apparatus are suitable for cardioplegia safety systems and other systems involving a shear sensitive fluid such as blood.
