    摘要: A system, method and computer program are provided for a virtual three-dimensional workspace wherein certain three-dimensional objects represent or serve as proxies for a variety of user interactive application programs. Such objects may be selected or triggered by the user to bring forth planar two-dimensional interactive user interfaces having images resembling those of their respective representative 3D objects so that a user may intuitively note the resemblance and select the appropriate object to result in the planar two-dimensional interactive interface appearing in front of the three-dimensional workspace. This two-dimensional planar interface remains active and unaffected by changes to its representative three-dimensional object during the course of navigation or otherwise.

    摘要: A physical play-in-place case for housing and playing a media disc, such as an audio compact disc (CD). The case comprises a base, a shell attached to the base defining a cavity for receiving a CD, the shell further having a landing portion defining a spine area extending substantially along a common side of the base and the shell, and a cover hinged to the base along the spine area. Playback controls are located at the landing portion of the shell and extend into the spine area. At least one audio output device is located in the shell. A track/time display can also be located at the landing portion of the shell. In a further embodiment, a graphic display panel is attached to the cover, and may be viewed when the cover is in the closed position. A touch screen may be operatively combined with the graphic display panel. The case can be fabricated in the same size as conventional CD jewel cases, i.e., with dimensions no greater than about 14 cm×12.5 cm×10 cm.

The method and system comprises providing a group of task related objects and positioning an object within an associated viewpoint when the object is to be utilized. In the present invention each task group is composed of objects related to a particular user task. Associated with each task group is a viewpoint in the 3D space. The visual organization of task groups and associated viewpoints allows the user to traverse the task-object hierarchy smoothly, seeing more or less of the surrounding task context as desired.

    摘要: In a data processor controlled display system having three-dimensional objects laid out in a three-dimensional virtual workspace, the objects have associated there with respective collision barriers which are stored with their corresponding objects. Then during navigation via changing the users viewpoint in to the workspace, when this changing viewpoint encounters any collision barrier which is offset from its object by a selected distance D, the viewpoint stops. This distance of the barrier from the object is selected so as to stop the viewpoint at a distance sufficiently removed from its particular object so as to leave the user or viewer with a view of the workscape of sufficient scope to permit the viewer to select a different navigation path or path branch. In accordance with a further aspect of the present invention, the viewpoint is optionally provided with a similar collision barrier.

    摘要: A system, method and computer program are provided for facilitating viewer navigation within a virtual reality three-dimensional workspace containing functional three-dimensional objects. The viewer has the capability of navigating towards such three-dimensional functional objects and interacting with them functionally in specific tasks. Such specific tasks often require a fairly narrow viewpoint to provide close viewer interaction with the object in the specific task. The present invention provides a means for facilitating the viewer's navigation along his desired or planned path after he has completed a specific task relationship with a particular selected object. Means are provided for monitoring the task specific relationship of the viewer with the object and as soon as a determination is made that the viewer has completed his task, the system automatically changes the viewpoint of the viewer from the task specific viewpoint to the optimum browsing or navigation viewpoint with respect to the viewer's current viewpoint so that the viewer can proceed further in his navigation.
