摘要: A device and method for testing for the recovery of vapor in a system in which a fluid is dispensed into a tank through a nozzle, according to which a vacuum is created to induce the flow of the vapor into the nozzle. The vacuum is measured and a display is provided that indicates whether or not the vacuum attains a predetermined threshold value.

摘要: A gasoline dispensing unit and method according to which one end of a cord is attached to a dispensing hose to support the hose relative to a dispenser unit during non-use. The other end of the cord is attached to a drum having a tapered outer surface and a continuous spiral groove. When the hose is not in use, the cord is wound on the drum from the largest-diameter drum portion to the smallest-diameter portion. The cord thus unwinds from the drum from its smallest-diameter portion to the largest-diameter portion when the hose is pulled from the housing to provide a mechanical advantage and reduce the required pulling force.

摘要: According to the present invention, a system and method for switching between databases in the event of a database failure is provided. The preferred system and method provide for database switching without requiring the computer system to be taken down and then restarted. The preferred system and method uses a database switcher on each application server and a failure detector on each database. When the failure detector determines that a problem has arisen in a primary database it sends a signal to the database switcher on the application server. The database switcher contains a list of jobs that are to be notified of a database switch, as well as the system name of the primary and backup databases. The database switcher then sets flags on each of the jobs in the notify list. When these jobs next perform a function that requires database access, the flag informs the jobs that a database switch must first be made. That switch can then be accomplished, and the jobs continued. Thus, the present invention provides a system and method for switching between a primary and a backup database that can be done without shutting down the entire computer system.

摘要: A method, computer program product and system are provided for integrating television signals with internet access. A television signal is received and divided into images and universal resource locators (URLs). Checking is performed to identify a filtered image user selection. Responsive to a filtered image user selection not being identified, the image is altered to visually emphasize URLs. Then the visually altered image is rendered for display. Responsive to a filtered image user selection being identified, the filtered image without URLs is rendered for display. The user enters user selected preferences and used selected filtering for display.

摘要: A fluid flow system and method according to which a fluid flow meter is provided that receives fluid and has an internal member that rotates in response to fluid flow through the meter. A self-contained, battery-operated sensor is disposed adjacent to, but externally of, the meter and functions to sense the rotation of the member. The sensor includes a display device that responds to the sensing of the rotation, and therefore the fluid flow through the meter, and provides a corresponding output signal. Thus, a service technician can be assured of the status of fluid flow through the system.

摘要: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that in an embodiment request a program or programs to tune themselves to run faster or slower if a service class is not meeting its performance goal. In an embodiment, the program is repeatedly requested to incrementally tune itself until the performance goal is met or until no further improvement occurs. In various embodiments, the programs to be requested to tune themselves are selected based on whether the programs are bottlenecks for the service class, whether the programs do the majority of work for the service class, whether the programs easily meet their own performance goals, or whether the programs are low priority. In this way, the programs may be performance tuned in a way that is more effective and less intrusive than by adjusting global, system-level resource allocations.
