摘要： The present invention is drawn to methods and compositions for treating inflammatory disorders of the lower airways, comprising administering an effective amount of an agent, which modulates the expression and/or activity of a proinflammatory cytokine or fragment thereof, preferably in a human. The proinflammatory cytokine contemplated by the invention includes IL-1, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-alpha. The present invention describes a kit comprising a delivery device and a pharmaceutical composition for administration of the agent. The pharmaceutical composition includes at least one proinflammatory cytokine inhibitor, optionally one or more additional active ingredients, and at least one pharmaceutically active carrier. The delivery device further comprises a nebulizer, an inhaler, a powder dispenser, an intrapulmonary aerosolizer and a sub-miniature aerosolizer.

摘要： A new gene in the calcium-activated chloride channel family has been discovered that is induced by IL-9, thereby providing a therapeutic target in IL-9 mediated development of atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders and cystic fibrosis. A method for the identification and use of small molecule inhibitors of this gene and its products to treat these disorders has also been discovered. The invention also includes a method for diagnosing susceptibility to, and assessing treatment of atopic allergy, asthma-related disorders by measuring the level of gene expression in biologic samples using antibody specific for this protein.

摘要： The invention describes a method of treating upper airway disease by administering a composition of one or more proinflammatory cytokine inhibitors sufficient to inhibit inflammation in the upper airways. The proinflammatory cytokines that are inhibited include TNF, IL-1 and IL-8. A medication dispensing unit which includes a container and a delivery system is used to administer the composition. The delivery system further encompasses a one-way valve, a microcatheter, or a liquid-pressure type sprayer.

摘要： This invention relates to methods for treating asthma or allergy in a mammal by administering a 3-aminosteroid compound to a mammal in need thereof. The 3-aminosteroid compound being capable of down regulating the IL-9 pathway and alleviating asthmatic responses to allergen. Exemplary 3-aminosteroid compounds used in the methods of the invention include compounds having the chemical formula (I), wherein X, R1, R2, R3, and R4 groups are as defined herein. The invention also relates to certain novel compounds of formula (I). Moreover, the invention also provides methods for identifying an immunomodulatory 3-aminosteroid compound.
