摘要: An introducing device for locating a tissue region and deploying an electrode is shown and described. The introducing device may include an outer sheath. An inner sheath may be disposed within the outer sheath. The inner sheath may be configured to engage an implantable electrode. In an example, the inner sheath may comprise a stimulation probe having an uninsulated portion at or near a distal end of the delivery sheath. The outer sheath may be coupled to a power source or stimulation signal generating circuitry at a proximal end. A clinician may control application of the stimulation signal to a tissue region via the outer sheath.

摘要: The present invention reduces pain and improves function long-term in persons with back pain using electrical stimulation in the back. This approach involves an electrical stimulation device including at least one electrode adapted for insertion within an animal body with back pain and at least one pulse generator operatively coupled with the at least one electrode, wherein the pulse generator delivers electrical stimulation activating at least one muscle in a back of the animal body for pain relief.

摘要: Device/system that provides pain relief by delivering stimulation that neither generates action potentials nor completely blocks neural transmission (in the peripheral nerve). The present teachings provide relief by modulating release of neurotransmitters in peripheral nerves to cause neuromodulation at the level of the peripheral nerve (modulation of neural signals in the peripheral nerve). The present teachings provide relief by modulating release of neurotransmitters in peripheral nerves to cause neuromodulation at the level of the peripheral nerve (modulation of neural signals in the peripheral nerve) to alter the frequency of physiologically generated neural transmission.

摘要: Systems and methods of applying electrical stimulation to achieve sustained relief of chronic pain that comprise a coiled wire percutaneous lead configured for insertion into a portion of a body that is proximal to a region of pain and an electrode formed integrally on the coiled wire percutaneous lead, wherein the electrode is configured to be positioned inside the body and at a therapeutically effective distance from a portion of at least one peripheral nerve that innervates the region of pain. The systems and method may also include an electrical stimulation device operatively coupled to the lead to apply electrical stimulation through the at least one electrode to at least one peripheral nerve that innervates the region of pain, to activate target peripheral nerve fibers while preventing activation of non-target peripheral nerve fibers and avoiding changing or blocking neural activity in off-target peripheral nerve fibers in the at least one peripheral nerve to create comfortable sensations in the region of pain and produce pain relief by modulating central nervous system plasticity associated with the pain.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for the treatment of pain through activation of select neural fibers. The neural fibers may comprise one or more afferent neural fibers and/or one or more efferent neural fibers. If afferent fibers are stimulated, alone or in combination with efferent fibers, a therapeutically effective amount of electrical stimulation is applied to activate afferent pathways in a manner approximating natural afferent activity. The afferent fibers may be associated with primary receptors of muscle spindles, golgi tendon organs, secondary receptors of muscle spindles, joint receptors, touch receptors, and other types of mechanoreceptors and/or proprioceptors. If efferent fibers are stimulated, alone or in combination with afferent fibers, a therapeutically effective amount of electrical stimulation is applied to activate intrafusal and/or extrafusal muscle fibers, which results in an indirect activation of afferent fibers associated therewith.
