摘要: An Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG) is disclosed that is capable of sensing a degree to which recruited neurons in a patient's tissue are firing synchronously, and of modifying a stimulation program to promote desynchronicity and to reduce paresthesia. An evoked compound action potential (ECAP) of the recruited neurons is sensed as a measure of synchronicity by at least one non-active electrode. An ECAP algorithm operable in the IPG assesses the shape of the ECAP and determines one or more ECAP shape parameters that indicate whether the recruited neurons are firing synchronously or desynchronously. If the shape parameters indicate significant synchronicity, the ECAP algorithm can adjust the stimulation program to promote desynchronous firing.

摘要: An electrical stimulator is provided including: a base wire configured with a core wire and an outer winding wire wound around the core wire with the core wire serving as a winding axis. The core wire is entirely coated by an insulating film, and an annulus is formed by spiraling or looping the base wire. One end of the core wire is electrically connected to one end of the outer winding wire. The other end of the core wire is connected to a first terminal of an external circuit. Further, the other end of the outer winding wire is connected to a second terminal of the external circuit. Thus, the annulus can apply an electrical stimulation to a living body.

摘要: Devices and methods of use for introduction and implantation of an electrode as part of a minimally invasive technique. A system includes an introducer tool including a dilator portion, a carrier portion and a release mechanism, the dilator portion selectively engageable with the carrier portion. The system further includes a lead including a lead body and an electrode structure, the electrode structure including an active side with an electrode disposed thereon, and an inactive side with an element disposed thereon. The introducer tool is configured to be temporarily inserted into a patient over a guidewire, and a portion of the release mechanism is selectively engageable with the element of the electrode structure to retain the electrode structure to the introducer tool.

摘要: It has been discovered that pain felt in a given region of the body can be treated by stimulating a peripheral nerve at a therapeutically effective distance from the region where pain is felt to generate a comfortable sensation (i.e., paresthesia) overlapping the regions of pain. A method has been developed to reduce pain in a painful region following limb joint replacement by stimulating a peripheral nerve innervating the painful region with an electrode inserted into tissue and spaced from the peripheral nerve. This method may be used to help alleviate postoperative pain in patients following total knee arthroplasty surgery or other limb joint replacement surgeries.

摘要: The present application relates to a new stimulation design which can be utilized to treat neurological conditions. The stimulation system produces a burst mode stimulation which alters the neuronal activity of the predetermined site, thereby treating the neurological condition or disorder. The burst stimulus comprises a plurality of groups of spike pulses having a maximum inter-spike interval of 100 milliseconds. The burst stimulus is separated by a substantially quiescent period of time between the plurality of groups of spike pulses. This inter-group interval may comprise a minimum of 5 seconds.
