    Abstract: A foot control of the treadle operated type has a latching mechanism which normally latches the treadle in an inoperative position and which must be released before the treadle can be moved to an operative position. The latch mechanism includes a latch plate which, as the latch mechanism is being set to latch the treadle in its inoperative position, is moved to a restricting position wherein it restricts access to the treadle by the foot of an operator or by a foreign object. The latch plate is yieldably constrained to restricting position after the latch mechanism is set, and must be moved out of its restricting position to re-establish free access to the treadle and release the latch mechanism. The direction in which the latch plate must be moved for moving it out of its restricting position is opposite from the direction in which the treadle must be moved to reach its operative position.

    Abstract: A handle of the operator is mounted on an external surface of a flange portion of a wall of an enclosure for a molded case circuit breaker and is drivingly connected to an operating handle of the circuit breaker. Interlock means prevent the operating handle of the circuit breaker from being turned to its ON position with a cover of the enclosure open, and the handle of the operator is normally positioned to mechanically interfere and thereby prevent the opening of the cover when the operating handle of the circuit breaker is in its ON position. The handle of the operator is pivotally mounted for limited movement relative to a drive shaft of the operator and can be locked in a single position to lock the circuit breaker handle in either its ON or OFF position. A true position indicator shows the position of the circuit breaker handle regardless of the position of the operator handle.

    Abstract: The structure comprises a push button having a cylindrical body portion provided with a head portion at one end and a flattened end portion at the other end and a mounting receptacle formed in a cover of a circuit breaker. An opening through the mounting receptacle has a larger outer portion and a smaller inner portion which define an outwardly facing shoulder. The smaller inner portion has a pair of diametrically opposed slots. A longer one of the slots extends along the entire longitudinal length of the wall of the inner portion, and a shorter one of the slots extends partially along the wall of the inner portion commencing at the innermost end of the receptacle portion. In one turned position, the push button fits slidably within the opening with a laterally extending part of the flattened end portion fitting within the longer slot. When the button is pushed inwardly and rotated 180*, the laterally extending part is aligned with the shorter slot. Upon release of the button, the outer biasing action of a helical spring positioned around the body portion results in the entry of the extending part into the shorter slot thereby securing the button within the opening of the receptacle.
