Abstract:
A paint agitator assembly comprising an impeller carried by a magnet in the cup for mixing the paint, with the pain discharge tube located between the impeller end and the cup wall for preventing a vortex. The magnet is rotated by a second magnet external to the cup, and the second magnet is in turn rotated by a high speed air turbine through a series of plastic gears arranged to provide speed reduction and high torque for rotating the first magnet. The air for driving the turbine is provided through a throttling valve and metering orifice to the air turbine and follows a tortuous path extending in sequence through circumferentially offset holes to reduce noise.
Abstract:
A static annular radiator having fluid passageway means and radial air passageway means. Fluid inlet and outlet means are provided for the fluid passageway means. Air propelling means are located coaxially of the annular radiator for effecting air flow radially through the air passageway means.
Abstract:
The following specification describes front and rear annular housing sections forming a housing assembly for receiving a gauge with the bezel of the gauge held between the two sections, and the gauge dial viewed in the annular opening of the front section. A clip inserted in a wall passageway of two adjacent rear housing sections has spaced walls overlapping interior surfaces of the two housing sections to join together respective housing assemblies and form a cluster. A rear panel closes off the rear of the rear section to hide the interior of the assembly, and a mounting clip engaging a rear housing section passageway has a swivel support to enable the entire cluster to be carried at a desired angle from a support.
Abstract:
A signal regenerator circuit for a selective paging receiver utilizes a differential amplifier to derive from a received subscriber address-bearing code signal a level-equalized code signal suitable for application to the receiver decoding circuitry. To make the width of the individual bits of the derived code signal independent of the received signal amplitude, an amplitude-dependent control voltage is applied to the differential amplifier to vary the slicing level of the amplifier with variations in signal amplitude. A clamping circuit is provided to stablize the slicing level, and a capacitor discharge circuit is provided to prevent low-frequency DC skewing by the large interstage coupling capacitance employed in the regenerator circuit.
Abstract:
Line or pattern edge contour tracing apparatus incorporating a triangularly shaped pair of photocells receiving either direct or pulsating light from the line or edge to be traced. The triangularly shaped photocell pair carried by a sensing head are arranged in overlapping positions across the line or edge to be traced and across the direction of sensing head movement to enable the entire area of each cell to be used in sensing line displacement or orientation. Providing successive pairs of triangularly shaped photocells arranged across the line or direction of travel and in circuits for combining their outputs provides resultant signals indicative of the deviation of the sensing head from the line or edge being traced with the output of the cells selected and combined dependent on whether an edge or line is traced and the tracing speed for controlling servo motors to drive the sensing head along the line or edge. In addition the output of selected cells are controlled to ensure the sensing head properly orients to the line when tracing at slow speed.
Abstract:
The following specification describes a two-wheeled caster in which the shaft rotatably supporting the caster wheels at opposite ends has a head at each end of smaller diameter than the shaft with a peripheral groove between each head and the adjacent main portion of the shaft to define a shoulder. The shaft engages in a correspondingly sized recess in each caster wheel with each recess terminating in a small diameter recess for receiving the respective shaft head. A thin wall section located between each small diameter caster recess and the adjacent shaft receiving recess is deformed into the groove to rotatably secure the shaft to each caster wheel.
Abstract:
The following specification describes a tracing scanning head having a photocell for sensing the presence of a pattern. The cell is supported on one shaft of a pair of coaxial shafts for movement transverse to the shaft axes. A pinion carried by the other shaft engages a rack carried by the one shaft for moving the photocell in response to rotation of the other shaft to compensate for the kerf or tool cutting width. A servo motor armature is fixed to the one shaft and rotates the one shaft and photocell to maintain the photocell angularly aligned with the line. A pair of easily readable knobs are provided at the upper end of the shafts to permit the offset to be easily determined. A preamplifier is carried by the one shaft to amplify low level photocell signals before they are transmitted over slip rings and brushes, and a neon bulb shielded by a metal ring casting lights the drawing pattern. A transparent shield depending from the casting protects the photocell lens. A pair of lamps cast indicia on the paper to enable the direction of scanning head travel to be easily ascertained.
Abstract:
The following specification describes an air motor formed of three coaxial cylinders or housings assembled by a simple threading operation with one end housing having a spring biased valve assembly detachably inserted therein for directing air to opposite piston sides. A shuttle in one housing controlling the valve assembly is guided by a sleeve bearing to minimize wear, and a conduit transmitting air from the valve assembly to the opposite end housing is simply connected by a single pair of fittings.
Abstract:
A control assembly for a reversible motor operating a drive wheel in a wheel spinner used for vehicle wheel balancing or the like including a power switch for actuating the motor when the drive wheel is moved into engagement position with the vehicle wheel and a reversing switch for selectively reversing the direction of rotation of the drive wheel. The control assembly includes locking structure for the two switches so that a polarity to the motor cannot be changed with the power switch in a closed condition and the power switch cannot be closed with the reversing switch in an intermediate condition. A brake is also provided for the drive wheel when returned to its non-engaging position to stop the motor before the motor polarity can be reversed.
Abstract:
The following specification describes a caster in which a footoperated treadle rotatable about the wheel axis pivots an Lshaped integral spring lever and brake into engagement with the caster wheel and thereafter tenses the spring lever to hold the treadle, lever and brake in their operated position until released.
