摘要: An electronic watch or other timepiece has a clockwork driven by an electronic oscillator having a quartz crystal. A variable trimmer condenser is connected in parallel with this crystal for adjusting the operating frequency of the oscillator and hence the accuracy of the watch. A counter-electrode or armature closely spaced from a fixed plate of this trimmer condenser is carried on or forms part of a bimetallic strip which normally lies against an abutment in the condenser housing so that only when the ambient temperature passes a predetermined threshold does the strip pull away from the abutment and later the capacitance of the condenser, thereby changing the operating frequency of the oscillator in a manner calculated to compensate for the effects of temperature variations on the crystal and to maintain that frequency stable within narrow limits. The strip can be arranged to make such compensation above or below the threshold whose value can be adjusted with the aid of the coacting setscrew.

摘要: A ratchet wheel in the driving mechanism of a timepiece, having pointed teeth alternately engageable by a pair of dogs on opposite ends of an electromagnetically impelled balance lever, coacts with a retaining pawl in the form of a bar or reed swingable about a fulcrum on a line perpendicular to the trailing flank of a tooth engaged by a transverse end face of the pawl. Upon a stepping of the ratchet wheel by the balance lever, the tooth immediately following the one heretofore engaged by the pawl strikes a side face thereof with sufficient force to drive the end face of the pawl out of the orbit of the ratchet teeth, against a magnetic or elastic biasing force, so that this following tooth can move into the engagement position without further contact with the pawl until the latter returns to its blocking position.

摘要: The indicator gear train of a timepiece is driven in dependence upon periodic signals derived from a time base. The gear train includes a rotatable element which can periodically separate the electrodes of a variable capacitor comprising two electrodes biased one against the other with the interposition between them of a dielectric layer. An error detector circuit can be used to detect errors in the gear train position by comparing signals derived from the time base with signals dependent upon the value of the variable capacitor.

摘要: AN ELECTRONIC WATCH WITH A TIMEBASE PRODUCING HIGH FREQUENCY ELECTRICAL PULSES, AN ELECTRONIC SCALER FOR THIS FREQUENCY, AND A TIME-INDICATING DEVICE CONTROLLED BY THE ELECTRICAL PULSES OF SCALED FREQUENCY PRODUCED BY THE SCALER. THE SCALER IS AN INTEGRATED CIRCUIT AND COMPRISES SEVERAL SCALER STAGES ARRANGED IN CASCADE. THOSE STAGES INTENDED FOR SCALING LOW FREQUENCY PULSES EACH COMPRISE, ON THE ONE HAND, A FIRST ELEMENTARY VOLTAGE AMPLIFIER HAVING AN INSULATED GATE FIELD-EFFECT TRANSISTOR AND ADAPTED EITHER TO ALLOW THE PULSES RECEIVED FROM THE PRECEDING STAGE TO PASS TO THE FOLLOWING STAGE WHEN THE TRANSISTOR IS BLOCKED, OR TO BLOCK SAID PULSES WHEN THE SAID TRANSISTOR IS CONDUCTIVE. THE CONTROL VOLTAGE OF SAID TRANSISTOR IS THE VOLTAGE ACROSS ITS INPUT CAPACITANCE. THE STAGES FOR SEALING THE LOW FREQUENCY PULSES COMPRISE, ON THE OTHER HAND, MEANS FOR ALTERNATELY CHARGING AND DISCHARGING SAID INPUT CAPACITANCE WITH FREQUENCY OF THE PULSES TO BE SCALED. THE WATCH FURTHER COMPRISES, FOR EACH SCALER STAGE INTENDED FOR THE SCALING OF LOW FREQUENCY PULSES, A DEVICE ADAPTED TO PERIODICALLY RECHARGE THE INPUT CAPACITANCE OF THE TRANSISTOR OF SAID AMPLIFIER, AT A FREQUENCY HIGHER THAN THAT OF THE PULSES BEING SCALED, TO

MAINTAIN THE VOLTAGE ACROSS SAID CAPACITANCE AT A LEVEL CORRESPONDING AT LEAST TO THE THRESHOLD VOLTAGE OF SAID TRANSISTOR DESPITE THE ENERGY LOSSES OF SAID CAPACITANCE AS A CONSEQUENCE OF LEAKAGE CURRENTS. THE AFORESAID DEVICE COMPRISES A PERIODIC VOLTAGE SOURCE WHICH DELIVERS SIGNALS OF FREQUENCY HIGHER THAN THAT OF THE PULSES BEING SCALED. THERE IS, FURTHER, A SECOND ELEMENTARY VOLTAGE AMPLIFIER HAVING AN INSULATED GATE FIELD-EFFECT TRANSISTOR, SUPPLIED FROM SAID SOURCE AND CONNECTED WITH ITS INPUT TO THE GATE OF THE TRANSISTOR OF SAID FIRST AMPLIFIER. ALSO PROVIDED ARE AN ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCE AND AN ELECTORNIC SWITCHING CIRCUIT FOR PERIODICALLY CONNECTING SAID ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCE TO THE GATE OF THE TRANSISTOR OF SAID FIRST AMPLIFER WHICH CIRCUIT IS CONNECTED BY ITS INPUT TO THE OUTPUT OF SAID SECOND AMPLIFIER. THE ARRANGEMENT IS SUCH AS TO PROVIDE RECHARGING OF SAID INPUT CAPACITANCE BY SAID ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCE AS LONG AS THE VOLTAGE ACROSS SAID CAPACITANCE IS HIGHER THAN THE THRESHOLD VOLTAGE OF THE TRANSISTOR OF SAID SECOND AMPLIFIER, AT A FREQUENCY CORRESPONDING TO THAT OF THE SIGNALS DELIVERED BY SAID PERIODIC VOLTAGE SOURCE.

摘要: An oscillator circuit which comprises a quartz crystal operating in parallel resonance, a MOS transistor, forming the active component of the circuit, and means for setting the amplitude of the periodic signal delivered by the circuit. These means include another MOS transistor, in series with the first, and a voltage source, e.g. an amplifier, for controlling the second transistor, said source delivering a continuous signal having a value sufficient to place the second transistor in current saturation conditions. Both transistors are preferably of the ''''enhancement'''' type. Such a circuit, although it would be supplied by a low voltage source, would only consume a very small amount of power.
