    摘要: A safety pre-impact deceleration system for a variety of conveyances includes a parachute structure formed from air bags inflated with gas. Alternatively, the parachute structure includes a canopy with orifices. Air spaces in the parachute structure or orifices in the canopy have adjustable and selective dimensions to control the operational parameters of the vehicle. The system includes sensors and rapid exposure rate cameras with continuous loop recording to measure operational parameters of the vehicle and to predict possible collision. Once a collision condition is detected, audio/video images are stored on storage media. The air bags are deployed and inflated. In addition to air bags constituting the parachute structure, a plurality of air bags are provided to be deployed external the vehicle to aid in a safe landing.

    摘要: The system and method for traffic surveillance, control, and traffic related information display uses display units each having display element sensors and cameras where the operation is controlled by a processor. Anticipatory sensor systems continuously measure speed and deceleration of approaching vehicles, sends signals to the processor which in turn analyzes the incoming signals. A rapid sequence camera continuously records audio-video images. When the rate of deceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold, which may be indicative of an imminent accident, the processor activates a store regime of the audio visual images on-site or transmitted to an off-site location for further actions. The information on the traffic flow condition which may affect the vehicle travel is displayed on the display unit. The system provides for the detection of pedestrians about to cross an intersection and controls the traffic light pattern accordingly. The display unit utilizes shapes, motions, and color to provide for easily understandable messages to vehicle occupants and pedestrians.

    摘要: A pre-impact inflation air bag system for a vehicle having a preselected decreasing distance between the vehicle and an object is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of nested inflatable air bags. A plurality of inflators are provided for inflating the plurality of nested inflatable air bags, respectively. A collision sensor produces a collision sensor output upon detecting the object with the preselected decreasing distance between the vehicle and the object. A controller receives the collision sensor output for simultaneously inflating each of the plurality of nested inflatable air bags between vehicle and an object. A plurality of pressure relief members are connected to the plurality of nested inflatable air bags for sequentially deflating the plurality of nested inflatable air bags upon sequential impact of the plurality of nested inflatable air bags with the object.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus are disclosed for identifying a proper tibia bone rotation relative to the femur bone for orientating a prosthesis in a knee replacement surgery. The proper tibia bone rotation is identified from an external rotation of the tibia in extension and an internal rotation of the tibia flexion. A point located midway between the external and internal rotations and a Whiteside line of the femur defines a center axis of tibia rotation plane. The rotational angles of the tibia may be measured by a mechanical goniometer or a computer navigation apparatus.

The invention includes selecting a first reference point (H) relative to the femoral head of the patient. A second reference point (A) is selected relative to the adductor tubical of the femur of the patient. The femorotibial joint location (J) is calculated through a relationship between the first reference point (H) and the second reference point (A) of the patient. The method and apparatus defines a femur reference plane to assist in establishing the correct rotation of the femur in a revision knee replacement of a patient.
