    摘要: According to one embodiment, an information processing apparatus receives, from a site on Internet, first messages related to a first broadcast station and posted on the site. The apparatus scores each of the received first messages based on a number of characters in each of the received first messages so as to give a higher score to first messages each with a smaller number of characters, and calculates a first evaluation value for content data being broadcast by the first broadcast station based on the scores for the received first messages. The apparatus transmits the calculated first evaluation value to a user terminal.

A hand-shape database stores first data representing a first hand shape and second data representing a second hand shape. A hand-shape recognition unit determines whether a received image includes one of the first and second hand shapes. The hand-shape recognition unit outputs first predetermined information when the image includes the first hand shape, and outputs second predetermined information when the image includes the second hand shape. When the first predetermined information is received, a gesture interpretation unit displays on a display a user interface including display items each associated with an executable function, and selects one of the display items in accordance with the position information. When the second predetermined information is received in a state where one of the display items is selected, the gesture interpretation unit executes the function associated with the selected display item.

    摘要: An electrostatic-image developer which comprises a toner and a carrier comprising core particles coated with a coating resin, wherein the toner comprises toner particles having a volume-average particle diameter of from 3 to 9 .mu.m and having a specific particle diameter distribution, at least 20% of the total surface area of the toner particles is covered with (a) an external additive having an average particle diameter of from 20 nm to 100 nm, and at least 40% of the total surface area of the toner particles is covered with (b) an external additive having an average particle diameter of from 7 nm to 20 nm, and wherein the core particles of the carrier are magnetic particles formed from a composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a ferrite component represented by the following formula (3): (M.sub.y O).sub.100-x (Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3).sub.x (3) (wherein M is a metal atom selected from the group consisting of Li, Mg, Ca and Mn; x is from 45 to 95 mol %; and y is 1 or 2) and from 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of an oxide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Groups IA, IIA, IIIA, IVA, VA, IIIB, IVB, and VB of the periodic table by granulating the composition and sintering the granules, and the magnetic particles have a silicon content of from 500 to 5,000 ppm.
