    摘要: The present invention provides a side emitting lens that may reduce optical loss and improve light emitting ratios, and a backlight unit and liquid crystal display including the side emitting lens. The side emitting lens may have a substantially dome-shaped body. The body includes a base part on which external light is incident, a refracting part to refract incident light and emit the light from side surfaces, and a reflecting part. The reflecting part is in the shape of a conical recess at a central portion of the refracting part to fully reflect the incident light toward one of the refracting part and the base part and the reflecting part comprises two or more reflecting surfaces. Each of the two or more reflecting surfaces is a curved surface.

The transmissive color filter may include a transparent substrate; a barrier layer formed on the transparent substrate and having a plurality of pixel areas; and a plurality of photonic crystal units formed on the plurality of pixel areas. Each of the plurality of photonic crystal units may have a structure such that a first material having a relatively high refractive index and a second material having a relatively low refractive index are periodically arranged so as to transmit light having a wavelength band corresponding to a photonic band gap. An optical cut-off layer may be formed on the first material.

    摘要: A backlight assembly includes a planar fluorescent lamp, a heat-discharge member and a bottom chassis. The planar fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body, a first external electrode and a second external electrode. The lamp body emits light, the first external electrode is formed on an upper face of the lamp body and the second external electrode is formed on a lower face of the lamp body. The heat-discharge member is coupled to the planar fluorescent lamp allowing the heat-discharge member to make contact with the first and second external electrodes. The bottom chassis includes a bottom portion and a side portion to receive the planar fluorescent lamp and makes contact with the heat-discharge member. Thus, the backlight assembly may effectively discharge heat generated from planar fluorescent lamp and prevent a pin-hole defect.

The flat-type light source has a plurality of light emitting spaces spaced apart from each other and is received into the receiving space. The inverter generates a voltage for the flat-type light source. The prism pattern 1o includes prisms having a substantially trigonal prism and continuously connected one after another. Thus, the backlight assembly may improve brightness uniformity thereof and have a reduced thickness.
