Abstract:
A particulate composite powder wherein each composite powder particle comprises a substrate particle surrounded by fine particles of metal oxide bound to the surface of the substrate particle by a binding agent containing at least one of metallic soap and wax, the amount of fine particles of metal oxide being between 10 and 30 wt % and the amount of said binding agent being between 0.5 and 5 wt % based on the total weight of substrate particles, fine particles of metal oxide and binding agent.
Abstract:
An aqueous slurry for cosmetic products, which comprises particles of pigments and/or extender pigments having a lipophilic moiety attached to the surface thereof and a cosmetically acceptable oily material dispersed in a liquid suspending medium consisting essentially of water.
Abstract:
A composition and method for enhancing skin adhesion of cosmetics by using pigments and extender pigments for the cosmetics, which pigments and extender pigments are treated with at least one hydrophobidizing agent and/or hydrophobidizing/lipophobidizing agent and one or more high viscosity esters having a viscosity in excess of 30 cps. The present invention further comprises such coated pigments and extender pigments as well as cosmetics made therewith.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a surface-modified pigment having at least two surface-active agents chemically immobilized onto the surface of the pigment. The first surface-active agent has an HLB of about 10 or more, the second surface-active agent has an HLB of 9 or less, and the difference in HLB between the first and second surface-active agents is at least about 5. The surface-modified pigments are self emulsifying and are applicable for use in water-based cosmetic systems and toiletry products.
Abstract:
A pigment containing particles surface treated with N-acylglycine hydroxyaluminum and/or N-acyl-N-methylglycine hydroxyaluminum, and a pigment dispersion which contains such surface treated particles and a cosmetically acceptable oily material, having excellent dispersion stability and versatility (ease of dispersion and wide range of usage), because the particles are easily and uniformly dispersed in a short period of time at a high concentration in such a cosmetically acceptable oily material, thus a cosmetic product is thereby stable as an emulsion and has better usage than existing products.
Abstract:
An oil-free and wax-free solid or powder-based cosmetic material having beneficial oil and wax characteristics without the detrimental effects thereof. The cosmetic material comprises pigments and/or pigment extenders which are surface treated with a hydrophobidizing material to become hydrophobic. The hydrophobidized cosmetic material is admixed with oil-free and wax-free binders in an aqueous slurry and then vacuum dehydrated and dried at an elevated temperature to provide the finished cosmetic product with excellent skin "feel", adhesiveness, extendibility, payoff (i.e., pickup of the product by an applicator) and uniformity characteristic of oil-containing cosmetics but without oil and its detrimental effects.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a coated powder material containing a powder material having a surface layer that has been chemically immobilized with one or more surface-active agents and coated with an oil. The surface-active agents are present in an amount of at least about 0.1% by weight, based on the powder material; the oil is present in an amount ranging from about 0.1 to 180% by weight, based on the powder material; and the combined weight percentage of the surface-active agents and oil is at least about 4.0% by weight, based on the powder material. The oil-absorption rate of the powder material ranges from about 0.01 to about 0.70 gram of oil per gram of dry powder. The coated powder material is useful as a cosmetic.
Abstract:
This invention relates to water based slurry compositions of cosmetic and personal care products and methods of making and using water based slurry compositions for cosmetic and personal care products such as foundations, eye shadows, lotions, and creams.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to cosmetic formulations wherein cosmetic powder materials potentiate the UV protection factor provided by an organic sunscreen. The present disclosure relates particularly, but not by way of limitation, to UV-protecting cosmetic formulations comprising cosmetic powders and having low loadings of organic sunscreens.
Abstract:
This invention relates to water based slurry compositions of cosmetic and personal care products and methods of making and using water based slurry compositions for cosmetic and personal care products such as foundations, eye shadows, lotions, and creams.
