A polyester resin comprising a polyester resin chip (A) and a polyester resin fine particle (B) which has the same composition as the (A) and which passes through a 10.5 mesh screen in a proportion of 0.1-300 ppm, wherein a cyclic trimer increases in a proportion of not more than 0.30 wt % upon melting at a temperature of 290.degree. C. for 60 minutes; a polyester resin characterized in that a cyclic trimer increases in a proportion of not more than 0.30 wt % upon melting at a temperature of 290.degree. C. for 60 minutes, and the contents of Na, Ca, Mg and/or Si in the polyeser resin is 0.001-5 ppm and the total of these contents is not more than 10 ppm; and production methods thereof. According to the polyester resin of the present invention, mold such as stretch blow mold, heat setting mold, vacuum forming mold and the like are less stained in sheet forming, bottle forming and the like, so that forming can be continued for a long time to easily produce a multitude of formed articles with superior transparency. As a result, hollow articles having superior transparency and heat resistance of the finish part can be obtained.

A scroll type compressor having a pair of scroll type compression units which are encased in the same casing so as to make a common use of a lubricating oil reservoir provided in the casing, wherein the compression units have compression elements, drive shafts, driving motors and other components which are of the same constructions and specifications, and wherein each of the compression units are adapted to be driven selectively by commercial electrical power or through a frequency-variable inverter so as to operate at different speeds. Since both compression units can be made up from the same components such as the compression elements, loads in the production, service and administration, are greatly reduced contributing to a reduction in the labor and cost, while eliminating any mounting error. Various operation patterns are obtainable by selecting the combination of the direct commercial power and the power supplied through the inverters, so as to provide delicate control of refrigeration capacity over a wide range in accordance with the level of the load demand. Common use of the lubricating oil reservoir by both compression units eliminates necessity for specific measure for preserving oil levels equally for both compression units.

Thereafter, a discharge side refrigerant super-heat TdSH is monitored and a closing command of 1 pulse/sec is output to the electronic expansion valve to drive the same in a closing direction in a short time until TdSH becomes 20 K. After TdSH has reached 20 K, a closing command of 1 pulse/3 sec is output to the electronic expansion valve, until TdSH becomes 25 K, to drive the electronic expansion valve 3 at a smaller speed in the closing direction than that speed in the closing direction until TdSH becomes 20 K. After TdSH reaches 25 K, it is judged that an operation has shifted to a stable operation, and the opening degree of the electronic expansion valve is controlled while a suction side refrigerant super-heat TsSH is monitored.
