摘要： A composite abrasive wheel with improved thermal properties is comprised of a fibrous substrate with abrasive particles adhered thereto by a crosslinked polyurethane binder comprising heterocyclic groups. The heterocyclic structures, such as isocyanurate and/or oxazolidone rings, in the binder system improve the thermal properties required for a tough, durable abrasive wheel.

摘要： An abrasive article includes a support, a first polymeric binder, a second polymeric binder, and abrasive particles. The support includes a plurality of nonwoven layers. A method of forming an abrasive article includes providing a support including, applying a first coating of the first polymeric binder to the support, applying superabrasive particles to the coated support, applying a layer of a second polymeric binder overlying the superabrasive particles. The method further includes compressing the support and applying heat to cure the first polymeric binder. A method of preparing a work piece includes applying a thermal spray coating to the work piece, and polishing the thermal spray coating with the abrasive article.

摘要： A polyurethane adhesive composition, formed by combining a non-blocked urethane prepolymer and a polymeric polyol, is used for preparing a coated abrasive tool. The polyurethane adhesive composition is applied over a substrate to thereby form a polyurethane-adhesive-composition-coated substrate. Curing the polyurethane-adhesive-composition-coated substrate forms a polyurethane-adhesive-coated substrate. An abrasive material is applied over the substrate at a time selected from the group consisting of prior to, after, and simultaneously with, the application of the polyurethane adhesive composition to the substrate, to thereby form the coated abrasive tool. The coated abrasive tool preferably includes a polyurethane adhesive resin coating over the substrate, the resin coating being formed from a polymerization reaction of a non-blocked urethane prepolymer and a phenoxy resin.

摘要： An adhesive for use in coated abrasive belt joints includes a blocked isocyanate, urethane system. The blocking agent can include phenols, oximes, alcohols, caprolactam, and diethyl malonate. The adhesive can be crosslinked with amine or alcohol. A coated abrasive belt is formed by attaching a plurality of abrasive particles to a first surface of a backing layer. A size coat is deposited over the abrasive particles to form a coated abrasive. The coated abrasive is cut to form a strip having a first end and a second end. The ends of the strip are joined with an adhesive including a blocked isocyanate, urethane system.
