Abstract:
A particular embodiment comprises:a semiconductor laser;a Mach-Zehnder type modulator;an analog adder for adding a modulation signal representing binary data with a DC bias voltage;a coupler for taking off a fraction of the modulated light signal;a photodiode;an amplifier;a bandpass filter tuned to a frequency equal to the binary data transmission rate;an amplifier;an amplitude detector;an amplifier; anda microprocessor associated with an analog-to-digital converter and with a digital-to-analog converter to modify the bias voltage so as to cause the amplitude of the spectrum line extracted by the filter and the amplitude detector to remain below a fixed threshold value. The invention is applicable to digital data transmissions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for dehydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of a catalyst that comprises a noble metal M that is selected from the group that consists of platinum, palladium, rhodium, and iridium, at least one promoter X1 that is selected from the group that consists of tin, germanium, and lead, and optionally a promoter X2 that is selected from the group that consists of gallium, indium and thallium, an alkaline or alkaline-earth compound and a porous substrate, in which the atomic ratio X1/M and optionally X2/M is between 0.3 and 8, the Hir/M ratio that is measured by hydrogen adsorption is greater than 0.40, and the bimetallicity index BMI that is measured by hydrogen/oxygen titration is greater than 108.
Abstract:
A tile is for installation with at least another tile on a wall surface having magnetic properties, the tile comprising a rear surface, a front surface and a peripheral edge. The tile rear surface has magnetic properties for magnetic adherence to the surface, and the peripheral edge of the tile defines first and second fastening means, the first fastening means of a given tile for releasable connection to the second fastening means of an adjacent tile.
Abstract:
A method of producing a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compound including a polyurethane powder comprising microcellular polyurethane (MCU). The method minimizes discarding scrap MCU, reduces the cost of TPU articles by introducing a partial replacement for the TPU resin, and reduces injection-molding times to produce TPU articles. The TPU compound including polyurethane powder has superior melt temperature and compression set properties as compared to TPU compounds of similar Shore hardness that are free of the polyurethane powder. The invention also provides a TPU article including the TPU compound and a method of recycling a MCU foam.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus for providing subscriber services to a mobile terminal are provided. The mobile switching centers (MSCs) transmit an MSC capabilities message which informs the Home Location Register (HLR) of the services the MSC supports. When a mobile terminal roams to a particular MSC, the HLR compares the subscriber profile and the MSC capabilities message to determine whether the MSC can support a particular subscriber service. Where the MSC cannot support a particular subscriber service, the HLR determines a comparable service which the MSC does support and modifies a copy of the subscriber profile to include the comparable service as a replacement for the subscriber service that is not supported.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for conveying vessels of the bottle type, characterized in that it comprises: a primary wheel for conveying the bottles including a plurality of transfer arms; at least two secondary conveying wheels respectively capable of conveying the bottles fed by the primary wheel; the conveying path of the bottles grasped by the clamps of the transfer arms of each secondary wheel being at one point tangential to the conveying path of the bottles grasped by the transfer arms of the primary wheel, whereby the main flow of bottles conveyed by the primary wheel is divided into at least two secondary flows of bottles respectively conveyed by the secondary conveying wheels.
Abstract:
A home Message Center (MC) in a telecommunications network is capable of receiving a short message, the short message being originated by an A-subscriber and destined to a B-subscriber, and determines that prepaid charging is applicable for the short message for at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber. A PrePaid Charging Service Control Point (PPC SCP) is connected to the home MC and is responsible of prepaid accounting for the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber. The home MC sends to a PPC SCP an indication for notifying the PPC SCP that prepaid charging is applicable for the short message for the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber, and based on the indication, the PPC SCP charges a prepaid account of the at least one of the A-subscriber and the B-subscriber for the short message.
Abstract:
An animal feces collection device includes a tube having distal and proximal end portions defining a path therebetween, a flap coupled to the proximal end portion, a mechanism for pivoting the flap between open and closed positions and a scooping section for collecting animal feces. The pivoting mechanism preferably includes a push button and an elongated arm pivotally connected to the flap and the lower portion of the push button. The scooping section is secured to the proximal end portion of the tube for directing feces rearwardly therethrough when the flap is raised to an open position. The device further includes a reservoir for receiving and storing collected feces and a mechanism for removably attaching the reservoir to the tube.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of catalyst supports presenting a pore volume having an at least bimodal distribution, thus defining a main porosity and a secondary porosity, the main porosity being of an average size greater than the secondary porosity.
