    摘要: A flexible, elongated suture passing device or shuttle capable of advancing monofilament or multi-stranded suture material to a remote work site. The suture shuttle is formed of a plurality of woven or braided fiber strands which are coated, over all but a central portion of the strands, with a material having a flexible exterior surface. A part of the central portion of the strands is formed into an eyelet for receiving a suture therethrough. A method is disclosed wherein one end of the suture shuttle is advanced to a work site until the eyelet passes through the tissue at the work site. This enables suture to be passed through the eyelet so the shuttle may be withdrawn to pass the suture back through the tissue to be sutured. Repeating this process brings any desired number of suture leads through the tissue so a knot may be tied.

    摘要: A cannula fixation system that allows for easy insertion and removal. A flexible sleeve with corrugations and proximal flange is attached distally to the cannula. The flange serves as a splashguard and a finger retention device. The corrugations have a variable diameter depending upon the tension applied to the proximal flange. The flange is pulled proximally to reduce the diameter of the corrugations for insertion of the cannula. Upon release of the flange, the corrugations expand because of the inherent resiliency of the sleeve to seal against the portal in the patient. The cannula body can be shifted with the sleeve remaining in sealing contact with the portal.

    摘要: An improved adjustable multipole support stand is provided wherein each of a plurality of support poles is individually adjustable to a desired height.     摘要: The present invention relates to a novel installation of a sound attenuating laminate. More particularly, the invention relates to the installation of a simpler, lighter, and more effective noise attenuating laminate which is made up of seven layers of material. The laminate includes a duct liner, a moisture barrier, a first protecting layer, a screen, acoustic attenuating material, a second protecting layer, and a solid backing sheet. The laminate is readily incorporated into various sections of a jet engine compartment in order to attenuate the sound produced by the jet engine. Hollow rivets are used to conduct acoustical energy to the intermediary layers of the laminate. This novel means for conducting the acoustical energy to the intermediary layers of the laminate also allows for an improved anti-icing system, for more efficient jet engine operation, and for more efficient dissipation of acoustic energy.
