摘要: Cryotherapeutic systems with features that can facilitate pressure relief in the event of exhaust-passage blockage and associated devices, systems, and methods are disclosed herein. A cryotherapeutic system configured in accordance with a particular embodiment can include an elongated shaft having a distal portion and a pressure-relief portion proximal to the distal portion. The cryotherapeutic system can further include a supply lumen, an exhaust passage, and a balloon configured to receive refrigerant from the supply lumen and to exhaust refrigerant to the exhaust passage. The pressure-relief portion can be configured to release refrigerant from the exhaust passage when a pressure of refrigerant in the exhaust passage exceeds a threshold pressure less than a pressure rating of the balloon. The pressure-relief portion, for example, can include a rupture element configured to rupture at about the threshold pressure.

摘要: A catheter is disclosed that has a detachable tip for delivery of a therapeutic substance to a chronic total occlusion (CTO) within a body vessel. The tip is made from a biodegradable material and includes an active agent dispersed therethrough. The detachable tip pierces into the calcified lesion, detaches from the catheter, and remains embedded within the lesion as the tip degrades, thereby releasing the active agent. The active agent is a therapeutic substance effective to treat of a CTO. The active agent may be a drug, an enzyme, bacteria, or a parasite that degrades or softens the calcified lesion.

摘要: A locomotive warning system includes an acoustical warning subsystem configured to emit variably directed sound. A controller subsystem is responsive to an initiation command and is configured to trigger the acoustical warning subsystem to begin a sounding sequence when the initiation command is received at a first directivity angle and to continue the sound blast sequence at increasing directivity angles for a pre-establish time and/or distance traveled.

摘要: An imaging system and method with an arrangement for sensing the performance of an optical system and providing data in response thereto and electronically correcting nonuniformity in the performance of the optical system in response thereto. In the illustrative application, the nonuniformity is a porthole effect. In the preferred embodiment, the arrangement for correcting includes an arrangement for providing an inverse distortion to an output of the system electronically. The inverse distortion is applied by generating a plurality of spatial correction coefficients from the performance data, storing the coefficients and applying the coefficients to current data from the optical system. The spatial correction coefficients are statistically generated gain and level correction defect maps. The present teachings should enable a correction of optical distortion in nonideal electro-optical systems without requiring additional optics.
