    摘要： A child-resistant closure and container package includes a container having an open end surrounded by a cylindrical wall with a central axis, a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections extending radially outwardly from an outer surface of the wall adjacent to the open end, notches on undersides of the projections, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced flexible resilient spring elements extending radially outwardly from the outer surface of the cylindrical wall and angularly disposed between the projections. A closure includes a base wall, a cylindrical skirt extending from the base wall to an axial edge spaced from the base wall, a plurality of circumferentially spaced lugs extending radially inwardly from the skirt, and a circumferentially continuous annular wall extending axially from the base wall coaxially with and spaced radially inwardly from the skirt. The axial edge of the skirt is adapted for axial edge abutment with the spring elements on the container to urge the lugs axially into the notches, with the annular wall being in internal plug-sealing engagement with the open end of the container. Removal of the closure requires axial movement of the closure against the spring elements and rotation of the closure to move the lugs out of the notches and clear the projections.

    摘要： A UV lamp rack assembly usable in an ultraviolet ray wastewater treatment system, the rack including a horizontal hanger bar. When the assembly is installed in a channel through which a stream of wastewater to be treated is conducted, the bar is then supported above the channel in the flow direction of the stream. Depending from the bar at an upstream position is a vertical rod along which sleeves are pivotally mounted at spaced points thereon whereby each sleeve can be swiveled in a horizontal plane. Depending from the bar at a downstream position is a vertical conduit along which detachable lamp couplers are mounted at corresponding points, each coupler housing a lamp socket that is connected through the conduit to a power source. Extending between each sleeve and the coupler corresponding thereto is a lamp unit formed by a transparent protective tube enclosed at its upstream end and housing an elongated UV lamp whose terminal pins are at the downstream end. The upstream end of the unit is slidably received in the rear section of the sleeve, while the downstream end of the unit is securely received in the coupler, the terminal pins of the lamp then being plugged into the socket to render the lamp operative. To remove a particular lamp unit from the rack, it is swiveled to an angular position.

A container has an end with an open mouth surrounded by a container wall with a central axis and at least one first lock element extending radially outwardly from the wall. A closure includes an annular base wall having inner and outer peripheral edges. A cylindrical skirt extends from the outer peripheral edge of the base wall, and at least one second lock element is disposed on the skirt. A projection extends axially from the inner peripheral edge of the base wall in a direction opposite from the skirt. The projection has an annular sidewall spaced radially inwardly from the outer peripheral edge of the skirt. The closure is adapted to be secured to the container in a child-resistant mode of operation with the second lock element on the skirt releasably engaged with the first lock element on the container wall, and with the inner peripheral edge of the base wall in resilient engagement with the outer surface of the container wall to bias the lock elements in engagement with each other and to seal the package. The closure is adapted to be inverted and secured to the container in a non-child-resistant mode of operation with the annular sidewall of the projection received in plug-sealing engagement within the container mouth.

    摘要： A method for processing headed varieties of vegetables such as iceberg lettuce so as to remove all dirt, insects, and other debris from the vegetable and to allow shipping and transport of the vegetable while preserving the characteristics and versatility of the vegetable in a fresh form. The method comprises harvesting (10) the vegetable at or near maturity and then coring the vegetable (12). Latex is removed from cut surfaces (13) and a solubilized edible coating may be applied (14). A plurality of cored and separated leaves are made by separation of the leaves using a flow of water (15). The cored and separated leaves are then washed multiple times with each successive wash done using successively reduced water temperature (16). The plurality of separated leaves are maintained in a cool environment, preferably from 32 to 45 degrees F. The separated leaves are then packaged (22) in a permeable film or membrane sealed container allowing for the interchange of atmospheric gasses and gasses from the interior of the film or container, and stored (24) at a temperature which is equal to or less than the lowest temperature achieved in the preceding steps.
