Abstract: The present invention provides a device with a pressure control system and methods for controlling the application of negative pressure to an external surface of an individual for creating and/or maintaining patency of the upper airway passage. The device is configured to fit under the chin of a subject at an external location corresponding approximately with the subject's internal soft tissue associated with the neck's anterior triangle. The pressure control system contains control module elements that may include circuit board elements, digital output barometer elements, sensor elements, processing elements and memory elements to optimize device function and safety of the device through regulation of the flow rate of the air pump.

Abstract: There is provided a sample preparation device comprising a sample preparation vessel and a bead manipulation mechanism for manipulating sample preparation beads in the vessel. Abstract: A sensing system for determining the location and orientation of an object which comprises a magnetic tag. The sensing system comprises selection coils and interrogation coils. The selection coils are arranged to generate a spatially-varying DC magnetic field from which the location of the tag can be determined in use. At least some of the interrogation coils are arranged to generate one or more AC magnetic fields and at least some of the interrogation coils are arranged to receive harmonics, intermodulation products or time dependent variations of the AC magnetic fields, from which the orientation of the tag is determined in use.

Abstract: A cap and seal system for a liquid medicament container. The system comprises a cap formed from a substantially rigid material and has a retention component integrally formed therewith. A seal is formed from a material which is less hard than the cap and positioned within the cap such that, when the retaining component retains the cap on a container in use the seal is positioned such that it forms a fluid tight seal between the cap and the container. A recess is formed in the seal through which a liquid outlet channel can pass in use to access the contents of the container via the cap and the seal.
