摘要: An article includes a substrate having a surface, and a wear-resistant coating mixture applied to the surface of the substrate. The wear-resistant coating mixture has a nickel-base alloy first component with a first-component solidus temperature of from about 1775° F. to about 1825° F. and with a nominal composition in weight percent of (i) from about 6 to about 8 percent chromium, from about 2.5 to about 3.5 percent iron, from about 4 to about 5 percent silicon, from about 2.75 to about 3.5 percent boron, balance nickel and minor elements, or (ii) about 0.5 maximum percent iron, from about 4 to about 5 percent silicon, from about 2.75 to about 3.5 percent boron, balance nickel and minor elements, and a second component having a second-component solidus temperature greater than the first-component solidus temperature. The second component is either more abrasive or more lubricious than the first component.

摘要: A metallic component, which may be an airfoil, includes at least one treated patch, wherein the entire thickness of the component within the treated patch is in a state of residual compressive stress. A surface-treated area overlaps at least a boundary between the treated patch and the remainder of the component. The surface of the component within the surface-treated area is in a state of residual compressive stress, so as to resist crack initiation at the boundary between the treated patch and the remainder of the component. A method is also provided for making such a component.

摘要: A titanium-alloy article is produced by providing a workpiece of an alpha-beta titanium alloy having a beta-transus temperature, and thereafter mechanically working the workpiece at a mechanical-working temperature above the beta-transus temperature. The mechanically worked workpiece is solution heat treated at a solution-heat-treatment temperature of from about 175° F. below the beta-transus temperature to about 25° F. below the beta-transus temperature, quenched, overage heat treated at an overage-heat-treatment temperature of from about 400° F. below the beta-transus temperature to about 275° F. below the beta-transus temperature, and cooled from the overage-heat-treatment temperature.

摘要: A peel-and-set tile system is disclosed for being installed onto a substrate, along with a corresponding method of manufacture and installation. The system provides, in an exemplary embodiment, a tile body. An underside surface of the tile body provides a contact adhesive array for securing the tile body to the substrate, the contact adhesive array being positioned and configured for forming a perimeter gasket continuously about a perimeter of the underside surface of the tile body when it is secured to the substrate. A peel-away release liner is applied over the contact adhesive array and configured to be removed therefrom when the tile body is to be installed onto the substrate. When the tile body is secured to the substrate, the perimeter gasket forms a bond that substantially prevents liquid or contaminants from getting between the underside surface of the tile body and the substrate or compromising the installation.
