    摘要: An apparatus comprising a conduit, a separator, a blower, and a mixing unit positioned on a portable unit that can be stationed at a drilling site. The conduit can be positioned at a sludge source such that a combination of a sludge and air is introduced into the conduit when a pressure in the conduit is reduced. The separator is coupled to the conduit and receives the combination from the conduit and separates the sludge from the air. The blower is in fluid communication with the separator and the conduit and decreases a pressure in them to continuously pull the combination of the sludge and the air from the source directly to the separator via the conduit. The mixing unit receives the material and the sludge at selectable rates and mixes them to generate a treated material that exhibits physical and chemical characteristics that allow placement in a landfill.

    摘要: Provided are astexin-1, astexin-2 and astexin-3 lasso peptides, which are based on sequences identified in Asticaccaulis excentricus, and methods of making and using same. Astexin-1 is highly polar, in contrast to many lasso peptides that are primarily hydrophobic, and has modest antimicrobial activity against Caulobacter crescentus, a bacterium related to Asticaccaulis excentricus. The solution structure of astexin-1 was determined, revealing a unique topology that is stabilized by hydrogen bonding between segments of the peptide. Astexins-2 and -3 are intracellular lasso peptides.

    摘要: Provided is a practically valuable and economically excellent insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance: that is useful for insolubilizing treatment for a heavy metal or the like conducted by applying the insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance to soil or on the surface of the soil; that is capable of effectively insolubilizing and immobilizing the heavy metal or the like; that is capable of making treated matter neutral so as to be reusable and environment-friendly; and moreover that is capable of imparting strength to the treated matter as necessary; and with which the heavy metal or the like is not re-eluted even when the treated matter is exposed to an environment under a neutral condition or an acidic condition. An insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance to be used so that soil does not reach a strongly alkaline region of a pH of 11 or more, wherein the insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance comprises an amorphous aluminum compound or a derivative thereof as a main component, or an insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance to be used so that soil containing a heavy metal or the like does not reach a strongly alkaline region of a pH of 11 or more, the insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance functioning also as a solidifying material, wherein the insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance comprises gypsum obtained by adding and mixing, to the gypsum, the amorphous aluminum compound and the derivative thereof in a range of 0.5 to 60 mass parts relative to 100 mass parts of the gypsum, and a method for improving soil using the insolubilizing material for a specific toxic substance.

    摘要: The invention relates to a system and method for the substantially permanent biogeochemical stabilization of solids impacted with hexavalent chromium/Cr(VI), including chromite ore processing residue (“COPR”). The invention comprises a novel treatment method of adding amendment(s) to COPR or other chromate impacted solids for the purpose of (1) weathering COPR minerals (when present) to convert the minerals that control alkalinity of the COPR to non-alkaline forms and liberate incorporated hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in the process; (2) providing a chemical reductant (ferrous iron) to rapidly and permanently reduce the available Cr(VI) to trivalent form (Cr(III)); and/or (3) supporting longer-term biogeochemical Cr(VI) reduction enhanced by recycling of the chemical reductant, ultimately rendering the material non-hazardous as measured by acceptable methods. Amendments include but are not limited to acids; sources of ferrous iron; fermentable organic carbon source(s); and/or a source of active anaerobic microbes.

    摘要: The invention provides an optimal method for stabilization of heavy metal bearing paint residue subject to acid and water leaching tests or leach conditions by addition of environment safe, worker safe, multi-media compatible, non-separating, non-embedding, stabilizing agent and optional complexing agent(s) to the blast media, thus allowing for pre-blending of stabilizer and blast media and field production of a uniform and steady state stabilizer within media for stabilization outside or within an OSHA containment building or collection device, such that leaching of heavy metals such as lead are inhibited to desired levels. The resultant stabilized paint residue and spent blast media mixture is suitable for on-site reuse, off-site reuse, or disposal as RCRA non-hazardous waste.
