摘要: A liquid dispensing device including a body generally having an air passage and a liquid passage. A valve seat element is connected to the body and a needle is mounted for movement within the body with respect to the valve seat element. First and second connected needle guides receive respective portions of the needle in a manner inhibiting sideward movement thereof. The first needle guide allows flow of liquid through the liquid passage adjacent the first needle guide to the dispensing orifice when the needle is moved away from the valve seat. The first needle guide is connected to the valve seat by way of a press fit and is connected to a second needle guide by way of another press fit. The connected needle guides are likewise press fit into a bore in the body. These connections all aid in maintaining close tolerances and excellent alignment of the needle. A liquid seal is generally disposed between the first and second needle guides and prevents liquid from entering the air passage. The needle may be moved by pressurized air acting against a piston and the needle may be normally closed by a spring return mechanism when the pressurized air has been shut off. A pivotal force transfer element associated with the spring return mechanism reduces side load on the needle.

摘要: A rotatably adjustable angled nozzle for attachment to dispenser modules which deposit melted thermoplastic materials such as melted adhesives on a substrate. The nozzle has a nozzle body permanently and rotatably attached to a connector nut which threadably engages an outlet nipple of an adapter fitting on a fluid dispenser module and is tightened securely to sealingly seat against the outlet end of the nipple. The nozzle body has a transverse bore in communication with an axial bore and having one end in communication with a nozzle tip and orifice. Rotation of the nozzle body changes the angle of the transverse bore and changes the direction of the stream of fluid emitted by the nozzle tip. The nozzle body can be rotated relative to the nut with a single tool without rotation of the nut. The transverse bore can be at right angles to the axial bore or can be at any other desired angle of inclination.

摘要: A nozzle cap, adapted for use with an adhesive dispensing device which includes a gun body and a nozzle having an adhesive passageway and an air passageway, comprising a nozzle mounting portion or nut permanently mounted to a nozzle plate formed with a stepped throughbore having an inlet with a seat which mounts an O-ring and a plurality of spaced air jet bores located radially outwardly from the throughbore and O-ring. Both the nut and nozzle plate are machined separately, and then are substantially permanently interconnected by roll-forming an end of the nut onto the peripheral edge of the nozzle plate. When the nut portion of the nozzle cap is assembled on the nozzle of the adhesive dispensing device, the nozzle plate is positioned such that its stepped throughbore communicates with the adhesive passageway in the nozzle and its air jet bores communicate with the air passageway in the nozzle. An adhesive bead is extruded through the stepped throughbore in the nozzle plate, and this bead is impacted by air jets from the spaced air jet bores which stretch or attenuate the adhesive bead to form an elongated adhesive fiber for deposition in a controlled spiral spray pattern onto a substrate.

摘要: Disclosed are novel feed supplements for ruminants and methods for making the same. The feed supplements include unsaturated fatty acid encapsulated by a protective coating. Through utilization of the disclosed feed supplements, dietary intake and absorption of unsaturated fatty acids can be increased, due to protection of the ingested unsaturated fatty acids from biohydrogenation in the animal's rumen. The methods of the invention can be utilized to increase unsaturated fatty acid levels in the animal's tissues. Hence, food products obtained from the animal can also have an increased unsaturated fatty acid content and correspondingly lower saturated fatty acid content.

摘要: A formaldehyde-treated protein capsule for protecting any encapsulated substance from chemical modification in the rumen is generally disclosed. Also, processes for making and using the formaldehyde treated protein capsule arc generally disclosed. The formaldehyde treated capsule can contain substantially no excess formaldehyde on or within the capsule. Also, the protein capsule can be generally treated with formaldehyde after the capsule is loaded with the substance to be protected. The substance to be protected is not limiting by the treatment process. In another embodiment, a method for decreasing the amount of milk fat found in milk provided by a ruminant, such as a dairy cow, is generally provided.

摘要: A fodder and a method are provided for increasing the amount of unsaturated fatty acids in the tissues and milk of ruminants. Specifically, the present invention includes feeding to a ruminant a composition containing the reaction product of an unsaturated fatty acid with a primary amine. The reaction product escapes hydrogenation in the stomachs of the ruminant allowing unsaturated fatty acids to be absorbed into the blood stream of the animal. In one embodiment, the unsaturated fatty acids used to react with the amine are derived from soybean oil. By increasing the amount of unsaturated fatty acids in the tissues and milk of ruminants, the food products obtained from those animals is healthier for human consumption.

摘要: A flow control device for a fluid dispenser provides independent adjustment and control of both stroke length and spring load of a needle valve which ultimately controls outward flow from a nozzle. Independent adjustment and control of stroke length and spring load enable an operator to independently set the dispensing gap which is directly proportional to dispensing rate, and the closing force of the needle valve so that a single dispenser may be used for dispensing materials of different viscosity. An axially movable stop member is aligned with a piston carried by the needle valve. A compression spring circumscribes the stop member, and a cylindrical retainer surrounds the compression spring. An axially adjustable screw holds the retainer in place, thereby holding the spring in compression between the retainer and the piston. The axial positions of the stop member and the retainer may be adjusted independently to independently set stroke length and closing force.
