    摘要: The present invention relates to an impingement cooling apparatus for use in the removal of heat from a heat liberating device. The apparatus includes a housing on which the device is secured and a stack of plates fitted within the housing. One of the plates is an impingement orifice plate adjacent the housing where the device is located. The orifice plate has a region that is characterized by coolant flow impingement orifices passing therethrough. The orifice plate also has a coolant drainage return adjacent the impingement orifice region.

In some embodiments of the invention, the refrigerant is allowed to directly contact electrical windings, or a magnetic core of the electro-magnetic device for maximizing heat transfer. Other embodiments of the invention provide integral phase change material for heat storage capability, and allow flexibility in mounting the condenser of the reflux cooler remotely from the electro-mechanical device.

    摘要: An oil scavenge system for use in a generator or the like which includes a housing having a plurality of isolated compartments into which oil may leak from the coolant flow passages of the generator. A plurality of fluid jet pumps are mounted in respective internal cavities about the housing of the generator. At least one internal passageway in the housing communicates each isolated compartment with one of the fluid jet pumps, whereby oil leaking into a compartment can be withdrawn therefrom by the respective jet pump. An internal conduit in the housing delivers oil under pressure to each fluid jet pump for operating the pump. An internal flow passage in the housing from the jet pump returns the oil to an engine gearbox pump.

    摘要: This invention relates to a cooling apparatus for at least one electronic component. The cooling apparatus includes a first member which has an inner surface and an outer surface. The outer surface of the first member is adapted for mounting the electronic component thereon at a preselected location. The cooling apparatus also includes a venturi member which is fixedly secured to the inner surface of the first member. The venturi member is positioned to direct a cooling fluid to flow in thermal communication with the inner surface of the first member. The venturi member is also positioned to control a flow velocity of the cooling fluid flowing in thermal communication with a preselected portion of the inner surface of the first member.     摘要: An inventory control device for a pitot pump used in a two-phase flow system, such as a closed-cycle Rankine system or a two-phase cooling loop for space vehicles. In these systems, there is a change of phase between liquid and vapor, dependent upon a change of power level or thermal transport rate. With these systems being used in devices that are subject to significant attitude change or acceleration forces or zero gravity conditions, the inventory control device is gravity insensitive and utilizes a second tube mounted in the pitot pump which is connected to an external accumulator. A pressure relation is established whereby the second tube will maintain a constant level of liquid within the rotating drum of the pitot pump.
