    Abstract: A positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system for an internal combustion engine having an air induction system configured to supply air to the includes a PCV line configured to fluidly couple between a crankcase of the engine and the air induction system, a condenser disposed on the PCV line and configured to condense water vapor and fuel vapor contained in blow-by gases received from the crankcase to separate the water vapor and fuel vapor from the blow-by gases and form a water/fuel mixture and a lean blow-by gas, and an oil separator disposed on the PCV line and configured to receive the lean blow-by gas from the condenser and separate oil therefrom to form a filtered blow-by gas for return to the air induction system.

    Abstract: The system and method of the present invention provides stepping speed control of a gas turbine engine to reliably light-off a gas turbine engine. During starting, the speed of the gas turbine engine is incremented by stepped amounts through the light-off window from a minimum speed value to a maximum speed value, with the speed of the gas turbine dwelling at each stepped value for a period of time before incrementing the speed of the engine to the next stepped level. If the gas turbine engine is stepped through the entire light-off window without success, the controller decreases the speed of the gas turbine engine to the minimum value and begins the process again. The process continues until successful light-off is initiated or until the light-off window is traversed a certain number of times, after which the start process is aborted.

    Abstract: A one-time programmable field effect transistor (FET) e-fuse has a silicided gate connected to the drain while the source is grounded. A voltage stimulus applied to the drain forces current to flow through the channel coupling the drain to the source. The magnitude of the current exceeding the threshold current density initiates electromigration of the source/drain silicide into the channel region, such that the source/drain of the FET is shorted to the substrate after programming. Under these constraints, the fuse device conducts current even when the transistor is in the off-state. The MOSFET e-fuse preferably uses a minimum channel length NFET/PFET and scales down its dimensions to conform to those allowed by the technology.

    Abstract: An involute spiral wrap scroll-type device uses two pairs of spiral wrap members connected together at opposite ends of a common rotational shaft. The device can be operated in either an expansion mode or a combination hybrid mode where each pair of spiral wrap members functions as a compressor and expander, respectively. In an expansion mode, electric current is produced via generator electrically responsive to shaft rotation. In hybrid mode, a first spiral wrap member pair functions as an expander with the second spiral wrap member pair functioning as a compressor. In this mode, the balance of shaft power between that produced by the expander and that absorbed by the compressor is either supplied by the motor/generator functioning as a motor, or converted into electricity by the motor/generator functioning as a generator. The housing can be hermetically sealed, thus promoting contamination-free operation. A throttle valve is used to control shaft rotational speed and to regulate the electric current output of the motor/generator. A differential pressure valve is used to control adverse pressure conditions in the spiral wrap members. At least one of the orbiting scrolls can be used to drive a pump. A heat exchanger is used in conjunction with a stator on the motor/generator.
