    摘要: Methods to generate a distinctive fingerprint (pattern of migration) for a sample of complex, polydisperse heparins are provided. The methods involve adding resolving agents such as polyamines to a heparin sample and then analyzing the sample with a technique that separates macromolecules according to charge to mass ratio (e.g. capillary electrophoresis). The resulting electropherogram is unique to and characteristic of the heparin sample. The methods may be used, for example, to monitor the quality and consistency of various heparin preparations.

    摘要: Sulfated bis-cyclic compounds that are potent anticoagulants and methods for their manufacture are provided. The sulfated compounds are bis-cyclic moieties comprised of an isoquinoline ring joined to a phenyl ring with the general chemical structure formula (I) where R2 is hydrogen or a sulfate moiety, R3 is either hydrogen or carboxylate moiety; R4 is a hydrogen or oxygen; and R5 is a hydrogen if R4 is a hydrogen, and is absent if R4 is oxygen. Counterions such as sodium may also be coordinated to the sulfate and carboxylate moieties.

    摘要: An agent-based modeling system (ABMS) is employed to quantitatively analyze individual components of each system of the coagulation-immune/inflammatory-fibrinolysis system at every point of simulation. ABMS is a dynamic modeling and simulation tool that allows the study of dynamic non-linear networked systems. ABMS represents a non-reductionist approach of studying the biologic process as a whole, while retaining information at the level of an individual component.
