摘要: Processes and composition for soldering aluminum-containing workpieces wherein the solder contains components which lower the surface tension and the viscosity of the molten solder, and which lower the interfacial tension between the solder and the aluminum-containing workpieces. Useful components are bismuth, strotium, barium and antimony. The solder may be used with or without flux.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a process for manufacturing ceramic or ceramic oxide hollow bodies and a method for its manufacture. The ceramic hollow bodies of the present invention does not require the use of a binder or adhering substrate or any type of internal embedded supports. The hollow body is capable of being manufactured for any desired diameter and length and is especially suited for thick walled pipes. The ceramic hollow body is homogeneous, free of internal cracks, and highly heat stable and shock insensitive. It is produced in a continuous quasi-isothermal thermal spray process in which hot atomized ceramic or ceramic oxide particles are sprayed as a plasma onto a non-adhering highly thermally conductive internally cooled mold core. The mold core is mounted on a rotating lathe which in turn is mounted on a longitudinally movable carriage to accomplish the uniform layer thickness of the hollow body. The mold core is removable from the hollow body and the hollow body thus removed is capable of being directly used without sintering.

摘要: A furnace for flux-free soldering of aluminum-containing workpieces in a controlled atmosphere has a furnace chamber through which workpieces to be soldered are made to travel. The furnace chamber itself is a gas-tight metallic muffle which is thermally insulated from the outer part of the furnace and has an inlet for the workpieces and an outlet for them. A first lock chamber is interposed between the furnace chamber and the inlet, and a second lock chamber is interposed between the outlet and the furnace chamber. Arrangements are provided for admitting vacuum and protective gas into the lock chambers, and protective gas into the muffle and a heating arrangement is provided for heating the controlled atmosphere in the muffle.

摘要: A refractory pipeline having ceramic pipe sections with joints therebetween located at areas where in which there are the greatest temperature differences in the pipeline. Adjacent pipe sections are connected together by shoulders at the ends of each such section, the shoulder of one pipe section being radially outside the shoulder of an adjacent section. A further pipe section is pushed over the joint so as to form a gastight seal by defining a space in communication with a borehole through the one shoulder and a peripheral groove in the other shoulder. A pressure cushion is provided in the space by applying a barrier medium under pressure to the space and thereby through the borehole to the peripheral groove.

摘要: An aluminum-silicon base brazing alloy contains between 4 and 20 percent by weight of silicon and between 0.0001 and 1.0 percent by weight, preferably between 0.005 and 0.1 percent by weight, of at least one of the elements sodium, potassium and lithium. Optionally, the brazing alloy may further include between 0.01 and 10 percent by weight, preferably between 0.05 and 2 percent by weight, of at least one of the elements bismuth, strontium, barium and antimony as well as between 0.00001 and 1.0 percent by weight, preferably between 0.0002 and 0.1 percent by weight, of beryllium. The remainder of the alloy consists essentially of aluminum and impurities conditioned by production of the brazing alloy. The alloy is used for the fluxless brazing of aluminum-containing articles in substantially non-oxidizing atmospheres. The elements sodium, potassium and lithium make it possible to relax the requirements imposed on the brazing atmosphere from those imposed when using similar brazing alloys which, however, do not contain the last-mentioned elements.
