The invention discloses a trace element solution, which comprises at least one metal selected from the group comprising selenium, copper, zinc, manganese and chromium; and at least one component selected from the group comprising a vitamin, a vaccine, a growth stimulant, a dewormer, iron dextran, an antibiotic and a synchronization preparation. The synchronization preparation is a combination of injectable hormonal preparations, inplantable hormonal preparations, intravaginal hormonal preparation and other slow release hormonal preparation. The antibiotics include oral, injectable and implantable theurapeutic remedies. The vaccine includes antigens and a combination of antigens and adjuvents. The growth stimulants include zeranol, estradiol, testosterone, progesterone and trenbolone acetate. The dewormer includes macrocydic lactones, leramizoles, benzimidazoles and salicylanilides. The macrocydic lactones include doramectin, ivermectin, abamectin and moxidectin.
Abstract:
An energy-storing prosthetic knee includes an upper leg structure and a lower leg structure hingedly connected to the upper leg structure. The lower and upper leg structures move pivotally relative to one another. A fluid actuator is operatively connected to the upper and lower leg structures such that relative pivotal movement of the upper and lower leg structures causes a fluid to flow in a predetermined manner within the fluid actuator. At least two controllable variable fluid flow resisting devices, an accumulator, and a control system are also provided. The control system is actuable to cause storage of the fluid energy for a predetermined length of time and release of the fluid energy at a predetermined time during the gait cycle. Both the storage and release of the fluid energy are variable by action of the control system without physical modification of other components of the prosthetic knee.
Abstract:
A system for pumping blood to assist or assume the cardiac function of a patient is characterized by a blood pump that exhibits a steep performance curve such that only small changes in pump flow occur for large changes in differential pressure across the pump. The pump therefore exhibits flow-limiting characteristics to protect the physiological system against harmful flow rates or pressures. Pump flow may also be limited by controlling the current provided to a driver from a power supply or by suitable restrictions within or external to the pump housing.

The invention discloses a trace element solution, which comprises at least one metal selected from the group comprising selenium, copper, zinc, manganese and chromium; and at least one component selected from the group comprising a vitamin, a vaccine, a growth stimulant, a dewormer, iron dextran, an antibiotic and a synchronisation preparation. The synchronisation preparation is a combination of injectable hormonal preparations, inplantable hormonal preparations, intravaginal hormonal preparation and other slow release hormonal preparation. Abstract:
In a centrifugal flow blood pump, usable in left ventricular assist applications, blood is pumped from an inlet (16) to an outlet (22) by a primary impeller (18). A portion of the blood that enters the pump follows a secondary channel (24) where a secondary impeller (70) routes the blood to lubricate a bearing between an impeller assembly (14) and a post formed by a component of the pump housing. The unique shape of the secondary impeller (70) prevents blood stagnation and provides for a well-washed fluid bearing.
Abstract:
An apparatus for enabling the patient himself or herself to engage the skin on his or her back to locate and treat trigger points thereunder, using a source of pulsed voltage. The apparatus includes a wand having a generally rigid and electrically-conductive arcuate handle of about an arm's length or less in length, a spade-shaped electrically-conductive extension with a free end formed with tapering straight edges merging in a rounded point and welded on its other end to the handle, and a cable secured on the other end of the handle to connect to connect the extension electrically to the source of pulsed voltage. A somewhat comparably-shaped sponge is fixed to the extension. A grip at the other end of the handle facilitates moving the wand so that a tapering straight edge and/or the rounded point of the spade-shaped extension glides over the back's skin when searching for trigger points, and for holding the rounded point there when a trigger point is located to enable precise electrically stimulation of the tissue near the trigger point.
Abstract:
A blood pump incorporates a blood lubricated journal bearing that is characterized by a non-circular geometry. In one embodiment, the stationary bearing element, or stator, of the bearing is provided with a semi-elliptical shaped outer surface in an area opposite the load bearing film. The journal bearing configuration ensures that the blood flow therethrough is adequate, that the integrity of the blood is preserved and that bearing stability is maintained.
Abstract:
A rotary engine is provided with a rotary piston that is rotatively mounted within a housing. The rotary piston includes a surrounding circumferential edge that is provided with a series of distinct depressions formed therein. Formed in the housing outwardly of the rotary piston is a pair of valve housings with each valve housing including a rotary valve mounted therein. Each of the rotary valves are driven in time relationship to the rotary piston. As the rotary piston rotates within the housing, there is a series of chambers defined between respective depressions and the housing. Moreover, as the rotary piston and rotary valves rotate, they cooperate to form four separate chambers around the rotary piston, including combustion, exhaust, intake, and compression chambers. In the embodiment illustrated herein, for each revolution of the rotary piston, there are two compression, intake, exhaust and combustion cycles or phases.
Abstract:
Propylene oxide adducts of oxyethylene glycols are used as extractive distillation agents in an extractive distillation column in the distillation of propylene oxide contaminated with water, acetone and methanol to obtain an overhead propylene oxide distillate fraction contaminated with reduced quantities of water, acetone and methanol, and a heavier bottoms distillation fraction containing substantially all of the extractive distillation agent, and acetone and some of the methanol and water introduced into the distillation column.
