摘要： A pipe coupling for joining a first pipe to pipes of varying diameters includes first and second hollow fittings which are secured together in end-to-end relationship by a crimping process to rigidly hold the fitting members together to form a continuous fluid passageway. The first fitting member is comprised of metal, and a second fitting member is comprised of plastic material. The second fitting member has a pair of well openings with the outer well adjacent one end thereof being of a greater diameter than the inner well. The outer well is adapted to receive the end of a hollow plastic pipe of greater diameter, e.g., ¾″. The second well is available alternatively to receive the end of a plastic pipe of reduced diameter, e.g., ½″.

The inner frusto-conical member is of mesh form and its wide end leads to the inlet of an ion filter. R.f. and d.c. are applied between the frusto-conical members. The ion filter has four elongate hyperbolic plates of conductive material supported within a tubular ceramics support member. The elongate hyperbolic plates are symmetrical with respect to an axis towards which they project and define a passage within the support member. The outlet of the filter leads to an ion detector.

摘要： In conventional processes for separating metals by selective precipitation, the precipitate is frequently in an amorphous form, eg a slime, which is difficult to filter, wash and handle generally. In the present process mixed solutions and/or sols of the metals are mixed with a suitable soluble organic polymer to form a viscous mixture. The latter is formed into discrete entities, e.g. drops, which are contacted with a reagent which converts each drop to a gelled entity containing at least one of the metals as a precipitate.In one form of the process, the same chemical reagent also serves to dissolve the other metal present in the initial drops. The metals are then easily separated by separating the gelled drops from the reagent. In another form, the reagent includes two different chemical reagents which contact the drop simultaneously, one to precipitate one metal in the gelled drops and the other to dissolve the other metal. In a variant of the latter form, the two reagents contact the drops consecutively, the first precipitating both metals in the gelled drops, and the second dissolving one metal out of the gelled drops.

摘要： A tub box, for use in enclosing a drain trap and a portion of a sewer-line pipe connected to the drain trap, includes a closed hollow one-piece housing adapted to receive the drain trap and sewer-line. The housing has opposite first and second end walls, and a compressible continuous side wall having a plurality of collapsible parallel folds attaching the end walls. A knock-out part has a base portion extending outwardly from the housing and a crown portion extending from the base portion. The base and crown portions are of different diameter so that removal of the crown portion creates a crown hole sized for a pipe of a given diameter while removal of the base portion creates a base hole sized for a pipe of a different diameter. A stake fastener, adapted to be secured about a stake, is located on the housing.

摘要： A motor activated bathtub drain closure is associated with the bathtub having a bottom with a drain opening therein. A vertically movable drain stopper is mounted over the drain opening. A drain pipe is connected to the drain opening and is conventionally positioned below the drain opening. A motor having a movable element is located outside the drain pipe and is preferably mounted on the drain pipe. Linkage is secured to the movable element and extends from the movable element into the drain pipe and terminates at an inner end underneath the drain opening. The linkage is so configured that when the movable element is moved by the motor from a first position to a second position, the inner end of the linkage will engage the stopper and raise it with respect to the drain opening to permit fluid in the bathtub to flow by gravity.
