    摘要: A method of fabricating a blotter roll for uniformly conditioning liquid images consisting of toner particles and carrier liquid. The method includes electroforming a semi-rigid resilient and perforated metallic substrate for preventing undesirable impressions of substrate outlines and footprints on an image being conditioned. The resilient metallic substrate is electroformed so as to be seamless and to have a cylindrical hollow interior, and first and second open ends. The method next includes forming at least a first absorbent foam layer over the semi-rigid resilient substrate for absorbing carrier liquid from the image being conditioned, and filling the cylindrical hollow interior of the semi-rigid resilient substrate using a porous foam insert for rigidifying the semi-rigid resilient substrate, and for uniformly spreading throughout the hollow interior, vacuum effects on the image being conditioned, of a vacuum source connected to the hollow interior for drawing carrier liquid from the image being conditioned.

    摘要: In a honing system for producing a light-scattering surface on a photoreceptor substrate for use in xerographic printers, a constant concentration maintenance device is employed to drain an appropriate amount of liquid from a honing slurry to match the amount of liquid added during rinsing of the photoreceptor substrate. The constant concentration maintenance device is mechanically effected by vibrations in the mixing apparatus of the honing system, facilitating separation of the liquid an solid parts of the slurry. Delay between honing and rinsing is eliminated through use of the same honing booth for both operations.

The solution is used in a method for removing coating layers from at least part of a substrate, which involves contacting a solution having at least one member selected from the group consisting of acetic acid, dimethyl malonate and diethyl malonate, on at least part of a substrate containing an coating layer until the coating layer is effectively removed from said at least part of the substrate. The environmentally compatible solvents may be used to reclaim pigments in photoconductive coating layers and substrates of defective imaging members during the manufacturing process, or after the operational life of electrostatographic imaging members has expired.
