摘要: A device and method for engaging the foot distal to the metatarsi that enables a full stretch of the plantar fascia, muscles of the feet and lower leg. The invention has an elongated shaft that has a brace element affixed to the end of the shaft pointed away from a human user and a handle element affixed to the opposite end of the shaft. When the handle element is pulled toward the human user, the brace element engages the foot such that the intended stretch on the plantar and posterior portions of the foot and leg is initiated.

摘要: A method and device for nasal irrigation and drug delivery wherein fluid held in a canister is atomized via a compressed air supply to create particles sized for penetration and retention in the nasal cavity under pressure that is able to stent open the soft tissues of the nose to deliver the resultant mist into the whole of the nasal passages without the need for the patient to create an airstream through inhalation. The device consists of a main canister with a reservoir to hold the fluid, two air outlets and an insert that is placed over the air outlets, the insert having at least one outlet that is larger than the holes in the air outlet and allows the fluid to be atomized and injected directly into the nasal cavity.

摘要: A catheter assembly and method for treatment of cardiac arrhythmia, for example, atrial fibrillation, by electrically isolating a vessel, such as a pulmonary vein, from a chamber, such as the left atrium. The catheter assembly includes a catheter body and at least one electrode. The catheter body includes a proximal portion, an intermediate portion and a distal portion. The intermediate portion extends from the proximal portion and defines a longitudinal axis. The distal portion extends from the intermediate portion and forms a substantially closed loop transverse to the longitudinal axis. The at least one electrode is disposed along the loop. With this configuration, the loop is axially directed into contact with the chamber wall about the vessel ostium. Upon energization, the electrode ablates a continuous lesion pattern about the vessel ostium, thereby electrically isolating the vessel from the chamber.

摘要: A nebulizer device for use in administering liquid medication and fluids to the nasal passages utilizing the venturi and siphon effects to produce a mist in two air streams from one external air source. The nebulizer device comprises two major sections, a cap section and a reservoir section, with the cap section having an integrally molded pair of siphon tubes which fit over opposing pairs of air tubes attached to the reservoir section. Pressurized air introduced into the reservoir section travels through the air tubes and exits small diameter orifices which are position relative to similar small diameter orifices of the siphon tubes. This interface creates a venturi effect whereby liquid medication is siphoned from the bottom of the reservoir section, through the space provided between the inside diameter of the siphon tubes and the outside diameter of the air tubes, and exits as mist or liquid droplets through the small orifices of the siphon tubes. These two mist streams are directed to the two nostrils of the patient, while a nose shield attached to the cap section keeps the liquid medication out of the patient's eyes.

摘要: A nasal nebulizer contains a main canister with at least one air exit port and an insert with at least one fluid channel. The fluid channel ends in a common bell housing above a base of the insert, which rests within the canister. The insert and the canister may form one integral unit for single usage, where a cap plugs the air exit port and the fluid channel, allowing for the transport or long-term storage of fluids within the nebulizer device. The insert may include an extension extending out to the canister and a vertical groove may extend down the fluid channel to a hole in the extension, which upon use helps create a vacuum that pulls in deflected fluid for re-use. The nebulizer may also contain a filter surrounding the tube portion near the top of the canister to catch any extraneous matter expelled from the nose during usage.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and device for irrigation and topical delivery of materials within body lumens accessible by natural orifices. The device includes a catheter body containing a delivery lumen for transporting material and is pre-shapeable at room temperature. A connector such as a luer lock connector is located at the proximal end of the catheter body for connecting the device to a reservoir, and a tip with axial and/or radial exit holes is located at the distal end of the catheter body for insertion into body lumen. The tip is larger in diameter than the catheter body, thereby diffusing insertion pressure across a wider area, thus minimizing abrasion, contusion and accidental puncture of body tissue. The proximal end of the tip is tapered to the diameter of the catheter body to allow withdrawal of the tip without causing tissue trauma.
