Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a motor. The motor can include a stator defining an interior space, a rotor disposed in the interior space of the stator. The rotor can include a body defining a structure and a plurality of magnets disposed in the plurality of cavities. In some embodiments, the structure defines a plurality of cavities in the body of the rotor, the plurality of cavities includes at least a first cavity and a second cavity, the first cavity is spaced radially outward from the second cavity, and a thickness of the first cavity is larger than a thickness of the second cavity. In some embodiments, at least some of the cavities of the plurality of cavities have a magnet from the plurality of magnets disposed therein.

Abstract: A system and method for separating permanent magnets from a rotor for repurposing. The method includes obtaining a first rotor including a plurality of permanent magnets located in a plurality of cavities arranged in the first rotor, heating the first rotor to a first temperature, removing the permanent magnets from a respective cavity by applying a force onto the permanent magnets at the first temperature, and repurposing the permanent magnets for a secondary use. The first temperature may be greater than a glass transition temperature and less than a melting temperature. The permanent magnets may be further processed for installation into a second rotor, the processing may include grinding the one or more permanent magnets to enable installation into the second rotor, analyzing a structural integrity of the permanent magnets to determine suitability for repurposing, and may also include separating the polymer material from a magnetic material.

Abstract: A sintered magnet, the sintered magnet including a core portion, a shell portion arranged at an outer part of the sintered magnet, and a diffusion portion arranged at least partially between the core portion and the shell portion. The shell portion has a coercivity, which is at least 30 kA/m larger than the coercivity of the core portion. In the diffusion portion, the coercivity is not less than the coercivity of the core portion and not larger than the coercivity of the shell portion and the value of the coercivity gradually increases from the core portion towards the shell portion. The thickness of the core portion is not less than 1 mm and the total thickness of the shell portion and the diffusion portion is at least 5 mm.

Abstract: A permanent magnet rotor can include a rotor body and at least one magnet. The rotor body can include at least one rotor cavity. The at least one magnet includes, in part, Mn—Bi particles and the at least one magnet can be either a sintered magnet or a polymer bonded magnet. The at least one magnet can be located, at least partially, in the at least one rotor cavity. Further, the at least one magnet can be installed in the at least one rotor cavity after forming the at least one magnet or the at least one magnet can be formed in the at least one rotor cavity using a mold. Moreover, the polymer bonded magnet can include a composite of polymer matrix and Mn—Bi particles.
