In addition, the disclosed embodiments provide a method for the prevention, delay of progression, or the treatment of a circulatory disorder characterized by inadequate blood flow to the brain or lung.

摘要: Disclosed herein are shelf-stable, clear liquid nutritional compositions having a pH ranging from 2.5 to 4.6 and comprising water; at least one source of EGCg in an amount sufficient to provide 200-1700 mg/L of EGCg; and at least one source of protein in an amount sufficient to provide 25-45 g/L of total protein. The shelf-stable, clear liquid nutritional compositions lose no more than 20% by weight solids of the EGCg content present in the initial formulation of the compositions to epimerization, degradation, or both epimerization and degradation during heat sterilization. In certain embodiments, the loss of EGCg is exhibited by the amount of epimerization product GCg present in the shelf-stable, clear liquid nutritional composition following heat sterilization. Methods for preparing the shelf-stable, clear liquid nutritional compositions are also disclosed herein.

摘要: Disclosed embodiments provide methods and compositions for improving the metabolic health of consumers. Bovine beta-casein, a major component of milk from cattle, has many genetic variants. Certain genetic variants, A1 in particular, have been associated with type 1 diabetes. The disclosed methods and compositions include reduced amounts of genetic variants of beta-casein that have been associated with diabetes. In some embodiments, the compositions display improved emulsions due to the solubility and hydrophobicity of the genetic variants of beta-casein used therein.

摘要: Liquid nutritional compositions include specific combinations of protein, carbohydrate, and fat for the nutritional support of individuals with particular needs, such as individual suffering from obesity. The compositions comprise a source of at least one omega-6 fatty acid and a source of at least one omega-3 fatty acid with a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 of 1:5 to 1:1. In a preferred form the compositions comprise at least one hydrolysed dairy protein selected from hydrolysed whey protein and hydrolysed casein protein or mixtures thereof. Methods of administering such nutritional compositions are also provided. Further liquid nutritional compositions comprise protein in an amount of 1-12% by weight of the liquid nutritional composition, vitamin C and copper, wherein the protein comprises a mixture of whey protein and casein with a majority of the whey protein having a degree of hydrolysis greater than 20%. Methods for improving vitamin C stability in these liquid nutritional compositions are also provided.
