摘要: A brake piston assembly including a brake piston; a rotary to linear stage mechanism including a spindle and a nut; and a ball ramp assembly including a nut ramp plate and a piston ramp plate. The brake piston includes a piston pocket. The ball ramp assembly is located at a bottom wall of the piston pocket. The ball ramp assembly engages a side wall of the piston pocket so that the ball ramp assembly is maintained in the piston pocket after the ball ramp assembly is assembled in the piston pocket. Rotation of the spindle causes the nut to axially move until the nut directly contacts the nut ramp plate, and further axial movement of the nut causes the nut to move the ball ramp assembly and the brake piston against an inboard brake pad to create a clamp force.

摘要: A brake assembly including a first brake piston; a second brake piston; and a parking brake assembly. The parking brake assembly includes a power transfer mechanism and a motor providing power to the power transfer mechanism. During a parking brake apply, the power transfer mechanism provides the power to both the first brake piston and the second brake piston so that both the first brake piston and the second brake piston are moved until a resistance of the second brake piston becomes higher than a resistance of the first brake piston. The power transfer mechanism then transfers the power from the second brake piston to the first brake piston so that the second brake piston ceases to move and additional power is supplied to the first brake piston.

摘要: An assembly that includes a parking brake system including two or more spindle/nut devices. The two or more spindle/nut devices include a high efficiency device and a low efficiency device. The high efficiency device is in communication with a first end of a brake pad, and the low efficiency device in communication with a second end of the brake pad. The high efficiency device moves the first end of the brake pad against a braking surface, and the low efficiency device moves the second end of the brake pad against the braking surface. After one or both of the ends of the brake pad are moved against the braking surface and a clamping force is created, the low efficiency device locks and prevents movement of the high efficiency device so that the clamping force is maintained.

摘要: A brake system is disclosed, which comprises a parking brake system and an inboard brake pad. The parking brake system includes a first actuator assembly, a second actuator assembly, a motor, and a clutch. The clutch selectively communicates power from the motor to the first actuator assembly so that a first end of the inboard brake pad is moved relative to a brake rotor. The clutch selectively communicates the power from the motor to the second actuator assembly so that a second end of the inboard brake pad is moved relative to the brake rotor. The clutch selectively communicates the power from the motor to both the first actuator assembly and the second actuator assembly so that both the first and the second ends of the inboard brake pad are moved relative to the brake rotor.

摘要: A device for a brake system comprises a rotating plate including magnets having a first polarity. The rotating plate engages an output shaft of a motor. The device includes a non-rotating plate including magnets, one or more of which have the first polarity and one or more of which have a second polarity. The non-rotating plate moves axially between an engaged position and a non-engaged position. In the engaged position, the magnets in the rotating plate magnetically attract the one or more magnets in the non-rotating plate with the second polarity so that non-rotating plate moves into contact with the rotating plate. In the non-engaged position, the magnets in the rotating plate magnetically repel the one or more magnets in the non-rotating plate with the first polarity so that the non-rotating plate moves out of contact with the rotating plate and thus rotation of the rotating plate is allowed.

摘要: A brake piston includes a piston pocket. The piston pocket receives a nut that is axially moveable along a center axis. The nut is restricted from rotating within the piston pocket when a torque due to a frictional engagement between a nut seal and an inner pocket wall, one or more projections, or both is greater than an it torque at the nut. The nut is rotatable within the piston pocket when a torque due to the frictional engagement between the nut seal and the inner pocket wall, the one or more projections or both is less than the input torque at the nut and is less than the torque due to the frictional engagement between the piston and the piston seal.

摘要: A torque transferring assembly that includes: a first output; a second output; and a spider located in between the first output and the second output. The spider is adapted to support a plurality of torque transferring elements such that each of the torque transferring elements are in communication with both of the first output and the second output. The torque transferring assembly is adapted to supply a torque to both the first output and the second output so that both outputs rotate together until a load or resistance acting on the first output becomes higher than a load or resistance acting on the second output. The torque transferring assembly is then adapted to transfer the torque to the second output so that the first output slows or ceases to rotate, while the second output continues to rotate.
