Abstract: A brake system that includes a first brake piston and a second brake piston; a motor; a distributing assembly that includes a first output and a second output, and a deactivator. The distributing assembly distributes torque or power from the motor to the first brake piston via the first output and to the second brake piston via the second output. In a first operating configuration, the deactivator is inactive, and the distributing assembly distributes the torque or power to both of the first and second outputs such that a speed of the first output and the second output varies. In a second operating configuration, the deactivator is configured to deactivate the distributing assembly and the distributing assembly distributes the torque or power to both of the first output and the second output such that the speed of the first output and the second output is generally the same.

Abstract: A brake piston includes a piston pocket. The piston pocket receives a nut that is axially moveable along a center axis. The nut is restricted from rotating within the piston pocket when a torque due to a frictional engagement between a nut seal and an inner pocket wall, one or more projections, or both is greater than an it torque at the nut. The nut is rotatable within the piston pocket when a torque due to the frictional engagement between the nut seal and the inner pocket wall, the one or more projections or both is less than the input torque at the nut and is less than the torque due to the frictional engagement between the piston and the piston seal.

Abstract: A torque transferring assembly that includes: a first output; a second output; and a spider located in between the first output and the second output. The spider is adapted to support a plurality of torque transferring elements such that each of the torque transferring elements are in communication with both of the first output and the second output. The torque transferring assembly is adapted to supply a torque to both the first output and the second output so that both outputs rotate together until a load or resistance acting on the first output becomes higher than a load or resistance acting on the second output. The torque transferring assembly is then adapted to transfer the torque to the second output so that the first output slows or ceases to rotate, while the second output continues to rotate.

Abstract: A brake system including a piston brake system and an integral parking brake system. The brake system includes a brake piston having a piston bore, and a brake pad. The parking brake system includes a rotary to linear stage mechanism located at least partially within the piston bore. During a brake apply, the brake piston and the brake pad are moved against a brake rotor to create a damp force. During a parking brake apply, the rotary to linear stage mechanism transfers torque into a linear force to move the same brake piston and the same brake pad against the brake rotor to create a clamp force.

Abstract: There is provided a drum brake type electric parking brake apparatus includes an electric actuator unit, a backing plate and a knuckle. The electric actuator unit includes an electric motor and a decelerator, and expands a gap between one end portions of the brake shoes based on activation of the electric motor. The electric actuator unit is separately provided from the backing plate. The electric actuator unit is arranged at an inner-side surface of the knuckle, and the backing plate is arranged at an outer-side surface of the knuckle. The backing plate and the electric actuator unit are supported and fixed to the knuckle.

Abstract: A brake assembly comprising: (a) a caliper including: (i) one or more pistons, (b) one or more rotary to linear actuators that provides an axial force to move the one or more pistons, (c) a motor gear unit in communication with the one or more rotary to linear actuators, the motor gear unit including: (i) a motor; and (b) a motor brake that prevents movement of the motor gear unit, the pistons, or both when the motor is turned off so that a brake apply is maintained, the motor brake including: (i) housing; (ii) an engaging element; (iii) a sleeve, and (iv) a solenoid that is in communication with the sleeve so that when the solenoid moves the sleeve, the engaging element is moved into contact with the housing creating a braking force.
