Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses and computer readable media are described that adjust signaling messages that include channel quality metrics communicated between a mobile wireless device and a wireless access network before and/or after interruption of a connection to improve downlink performance after resumption of the connection. One or more adjusted channel quality metrics are determined and communicated to the wireless access network to compensate at least in part for an estimate of communication channel performance degradation by a network element of the wireless access network following the interruption and resumption of the connection between the mobile wireless device and the wireless access network.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for transmission of data streams using a multicast packet format based on group identifiers (Group IDs) to deliver data to multiple recipient stations (STAs). Using Group IDs, an access point (AP) assigns multiple STAs to one or more groups, and uniquely assigns each STA to a particular position within the group, such that it can receive a requested data stream. A Group ID management action frame provided by the AP to an individual STA indicates to which group (or groups) the STA is assigned and the STA's position within the group, with which information the STA can determine whether a packet is intended for the STA and which portion of the packet to decode in order to receive requested data streams.
Abstract:
A method, device and integrated circuit for receiving signals in a narrow bandwidth range from a base station of a network, the narrow bandwidth range being a portion of an overall bandwidth range of the network and the signals comprising one or more of cell-specific reference signal (CRS) tones, determining whether a condition exists based on the one or more CRS tones, when the condition exists, extending the narrow bandwidth range to an extended narrow bandwidth range, the extended narrow bandwidth range including at least one further CRS tone than the narrow bandwidth range and monitoring the extended narrow bandwidth range to receive further signals comprising the at least one further CRS tone.
Abstract:
A device and method generates a hopping scheme for mobile stations of a wireless network. The method includes receiving a number of channels N of the wireless network. The method includes generating a shuffling matrix as a function of the number of channels N, each row of the shuffling matrix being indicative of a respective one of the mobile stations, each column of the shuffling matrix being indicative of a respective broadcast time of a discovery signal in a hopping scheme. The method includes generating the hopping scheme for the mobile stations in the channels as a function of the shuffling matrix. The hopping scheme maximizes an interval between two consecutive broadcast times that any two of the mobile stations are assigned to transmit discovery signals on adjacent channels.
Abstract:
A mobile wireless device adapts receive diversity during discontinuous reception based on downlink signal quality, page indicators and page messages. When the downlink signal quality exceeds a pre-determined threshold, the mobile wireless device decodes a page indicator channel through an initial antenna, and otherwise, decodes a paging channel through the initial antenna without decoding the page indicator channel. The mobile wireless device switches to decoding the paging channel through an alternate antenna when a page indicator decodes as an erasure. When a paging message received through a single antenna decodes with an incorrect error checking code, the mobile wireless devices enables receive diversity through multiple antennas for subsequent decoding. The mobile wireless device switches between single antenna reception and multiple antenna reception based on tracking multiple consecutive error checking code failures and successes.
