Abstract: Fabricating a nanopore sensor includes depositing a first and second oxide layers on first and second sides of a sapphire substrate. The second oxide layer is patterned to form an etch mask having a mask opening in the second oxide layer. A crystalline orientation dependent wet anisotropic etch is performed on the second side of the sapphire substrate using the etch mask to form a cavity having sloped side walls through the sapphire substrate to yield an exposed portion of the first oxide layer, each of the sloped side walls being a crystalline facet aligned with a respective crystalline plane of the sapphire substrate. A silicon nitride layer is deposited on the first oxide layer. The exposed portion of the first oxide layer in the cavity is removed, thereby defining a silicon nitride membrane in the cavity. An opening is formed through the silicon nitride membrane.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides compositions and methods related to COVID-19 detection. In particular, the present disclosure provides plasmonic metal nanoparticles (MNPs) for use in assays to detect and/or quantify neutralizing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in a sample. The compositions and methods of the present disclosure provide a portable, inexpensive, rapid, and accurate antibody assay platform that can be used to evaluate protective immune responses in individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 infection, as well as the efficacy, strength, and duration of vaccines that are under development or in clinical trials.

Abstract: Reflectors for concentrated solar power as well as systems and methods for additively manufacturing the reflectors is provided. The disclosed method can directly print metal films from an aqueous precursor solution onto a substrate with little to no post-fabrication treatment to achieve highly reflective surfaces with low surface roughness. The method provides precise control to form a metal film having an RMS surface roughness of about 2 to about 5 nm and a relative reflectivity of about 90% to about 96% at 550 nm on a substrate having an area of at least 1 square meter.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods of detecting cannabinoid molecules in a sample. The methods include contacting the sample with a plurality of plasmonic metal nanoparticles (MNPs) that are conjugated with at least two sets of antibodies, or antigen binding portions thereof, that binds to at least first and second epitopes of the cannabinoid molecule under conditions sufficient for the antibodies, or the antigen binding portions thereof, to bind to the first and second epitopes of the cannabinoid molecule in the sample to produce bound cannabinoid molecules. The methods also include detecting the cannabinoid molecules when aggregations of MNPs coated with the target cannabinoid molecules form by connecting with one another. Related compositions, reaction mixtures, devices, kits, and systems are also provided.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods of detecting Ebola virus in a sample. The methods include contacting the sample with a plurality of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that are conjugated with at least two sets of antibodies, or antigen binding portions thereof, that binds to at least first or second epitopes of glycoproteins, such as secreted glycoproteins (sGPs) from the Ebola virus under conditions sufficient for the antibodies, or the antigen binding portions thereof, to bind to the first or second epitopes of the glycoproteins from the Ebola virus in the sample to produce bound glycoproteins. The methods also include detecting the glycoproteins from the Ebola virus when aggregations of the bound glycoproteins form with one another. Related reaction mixtures, devices, kits, and systems are also provided.
