    摘要: A method of configuring a client device at a customer premises is provided. An electronic message is received from a vendor of a client device with customer premise equipment (CPE) at the customer premises or a portable communication device. The electronic message provides configuration information for the client device. The configuration information includes a password and an access name of a service for use in configuring the client device via communications with a remote configuration server. The service is made available at the customer premises via the CPE or the communication device so that the client device automatically pairs to the service and is authenticated with the password to the configuration server via Internet connectivity capability of the CPE or portable communication device so that the client device may be configured. The client device has firmware preprogramed to automatically and securely access the service, when detected, at the customer premises.

    摘要: A system, such as a gateway, is provided for use with a first access point device and a second access point device to scan channels within a spectrum of channels. The system includes; a delegating component that is operable to instruct the first access point device to monitor for a presence of a signal on any one of a first set of channels within a spectrum of channels and to instruct the second access point device to monitor for a presence of a signal on any one of a second set of channels within a spectrum of channels; a communication component operable to receive a channel-in-use signal from the first access point device and to transmit a notification signal to the second access point device based on the channel-in-use signal, the channel-in-use signal being associated with an in-use channel of the first set of channels within the spectrum of channels, the communication component is additionally operable to transmit the instruction to the first access point device and the second access point device, the communication component is further operable to receive a communication signal from one of the first access point device and the second access point device as a result of the transmission of the instruction; and a load balancing component operable to determine a communication volume on each of the first set of channels within the spectrum of channels, and to generate an instruction to instruct the first access point device and the second access point device to not use the in-use channel.

    摘要: In one embodiment, a system for modifying a video stream includes a video player receiving a video stream encoded as a series of non-predictive video frames and predictive video frames. The video player decodes the frames and is repositioned at a playback time from a current time to a different time in the video stream. In one embodiment, the video player uses a time reference table to identify a position in a variant of the video stream corresponding to the different time that is encoded as a non-predictive video frame. The video player receives the variant of the video stream in response to identifying the position. In another embodiment, a system for modifying a video stream includes a video player receiving a video stream encoded as a series of non-predictive video frames and predictive video frames. The video player decodes the frame of the video stream and provides the decoded video stream to a display. The video player repositions a playback time from a current time to a different time in the video stream. The different time is provided to a video encoder of the video stream which encodes the video stream based upon the different time, where a frame corresponding to the different time is encoded as a non-predictive video frame.

The wireless network may determine that based on, for example, congestion of certain APs that a wireless device should be steered away from a current AP. The steering may be conducted utilizing blacklist steering where one or more APs blacklist the wireless device from being connected thereto. Alternatively, BSS transition management (BTM) steering may be utilized to provide the wireless device with a list of one or more network-preferred APs it should transition to. BTM steering is preferable but not all wireless devices support it so blacklist steering is utilized unless it is known that the wireless device supports BTM steering. Wireless devices do not always indicate they support BTM steering in same manner. BTM steering primer messages are utilized when a wireless device is in line for steering to determine whether BTM steering is supported.

Gateway conditioned media streaming provides systems and methods for conditioning multimedia content according to the preferences of a recipient client device, such that the device receives the preferred video, audio, and/or closed captioning automatically and regardless of the application used to play the content. When a gateway server receives a request for content, the gateway server identifies the requesting client device from recorded information, and uses the recorded preferences to modify the content stream according to those preferences. The modified content stream is then sent to the requesting client device.

A request is initiated to display a PiP window that presents a second content stream simultaneously with a first content stream. The request includes information as to input parameters and video input characteristics for each of the first and second content streams. Currently available resources, including memory and bandwidth, are monitored and upon initiation of the PiP window request a query is executed to determine if the available resources are sufficient. If yes, allocation of available resources is carried out to simultaneously display the first and second content streams. If no, an adjustment operation is carried out that modifies at least one input parameter or video input characteristic to simultaneously display content streams in optimal formats. User preferences may be considered for viewer consistency.
